Sorry but Currywurst with Sauerkraut is an offence against all that is good.

Nice to open a book that I bought out of personal interest and find this. This is why my colleagues and I do what we do. It makes me so happy to read this. (From 'Central Europe: the Death of Civilization and the Life of an Idea' by @ljukic.bsky.social) @ghilondon.bsky.social

From a local Facebook group... (As the group is public, I'm not redacting the names).

You had me at the first sentence, given that I adore Elif Batuman’s writing.

Yes, tonight's Burns Night cocktail did come with a stick of bacon as a stirrer/garnish.

It does say: "If a manager leaves their club, Fantasy managers who own or bring in that Assistant Manager will still score based on the original club’s performance."

Belated Day 4 of 37 Days of Beermas: I was very excited about this sour fruited gose by Ten Men Brewery from Ukraine (!), although in the end it wasn't all that sour, basically it's thick fruit juice (in a good way), just with 7.8% alcohol...

Day 3 of 37 Days of Beermas: back to a warming imperial stout, this one from Dutch brewery Kees. An 11% cognac barrel aged caramel fudge pastry stout, again great for winter but a bit too sweet for my taste. Glad it came in a small can since it's Monday tomorrow...

Day 2 of 37 Days of Beermas: Under the Same Sky, an 8.4% DIPA from Verdant. I've had this one before but who cares - it's a fantastic beer by one of the best breweries in the business.

Day 1 of 37 Days of Beermas: Start as you mean to go on with Cuvée Delphine, a 13% bourbon barrel aged royal stout, just the thing for a cold winter Friday evening.

I’m pleased to see Open Access being discussed on the letters pages of the TLS, but what’s being described here is surely Diamond OA, rather than Green?
