This rage against Medicaid users and the “but I have to pay and it isn’t fair” mentality and “we’re giving handouts” could be so incredibly easily fixed by universal healthcare.
And hey, the money for it could come from the entirely overblown military budget.
Don’t even need to raise taxes.

Instead of roses or chocolate for Valentine’s Day, this doctor just wants the US to not eliminate Medicaid and Medicare so my patients continue to have health insurance.

This isn’t a federal employee buyout. My husband got this memo. You can work from home 8 more months if you agree to quit. There’s no extra money, no severance package. You have to work those 8 months but can do it remotely. If you don’t agree, you have to come back into the office immediately.

Since apparently any country can change the name of anything at will on Google (see the stupidity surrounding Gulf of America) I would love to hear:
What should your country or state rename the USA?
Extra props if you get Google to officially change it.

I don’t know how else to say we should all care about other people.
And when you brazenly don’t, it’s not the flex you think it is online.

You all really voted for a guy whose goal above lowering everyday costs, improving welfare, and focusing on actual problems is to shut down CANCER funding?!!
Make it make sense.

Oh look, it feels like 2020 again.
In the midsts of a growing concern over H5N1 bird flu Trump is pretending if we don’t talk about it it doesn’t exist.
He’s shutting down health collection, the sharing of data, and communication between agencies and the public…(1/2)

Reproductive health is healthcare. Full stop.

When you go to IG and #democrat and #republican this is what you get. Meta is blocking #democrat.
Meta is already censoring its platform.
It is a puppet for the new alt-right government.

President Trump's inaugural address was a misleading assessment of the U.S. It has a growing economy, falling inflation, slowing illegal immigration, a record-breaking stock market, the lowest levels of violent crime in years and a military that has limited engagement in conflicts around the world.
Trump’s inaugural address centers on pledge to lift a country in ‘decline’
In his second Inaugural Address, the president reprised dark themes from his first and laid out an expansive policy agenda.

The WHO is the world’s most important global entity in tracking/preventing endemics and researching deadly pathogens. As deforestation, animal born illnesses and climate change is on the rise the WHO is integral into researching and following pathogens posing a worldwide risk.
This is a disaster.

So, the MAGAincels who went from being experts on infectious diseases to experts on vaccines, military withdrawals, presidential immunity, firearm forms, voting rights, libel law and interoceanic waterways are now experts on wildfire management?

Do I have that just about right?

When you read about other countries and their falls of democracy it’s this dramatic abrupt occurance.
They skip over the very slow multi-week build of just sitting here, watching and waiting for our government to fall.
In retrospect it’s gotta be the weirdest part.
T minus 8 days.

Received some debriefs on the H5N1 bird flu.
There’s just a deep sense of resignment, trepidation, and dread.
Covid broke me in a lot of ways and I’m on edge facing the possibility of another pandemic as a healthcare worker.
Anyone else feeling that way?

The ER waiting room is a cesspool of viral infections.
You don’t know who around you is there because they have the flu, RSV, Covid, norovirus, chicken pox…
And you may have to sit next to someone coughing on you.
I cannot stress to you enough my recommendation to wear a mask if you come to the ER.

Cannot stop thinking about how Octavia Butler wrote a book in 1993 about climate change. It opens with deadly fires in LA in 2025. In the story, a fascist President has just won office with the campaign slogan "Make America Great Again."

She was a modern day Nostradamus. If only we'd listened.

I’ve seen Trump attack Newsom, I’ve seen him spread disinformation, I’ve seen him blame Biden & I’ve seen lie about the state’s emergency response to the crisis, but has he extended any condolences? Has he expressed any worry or concern? Promised a helping hand?

Did I miss that?

Just a reminder that if you are in the area of the fires, leaving a bucket of water out for wildlife (and displaced dogs and cats) can literally save their lives.

Trump is attacking a governor in the midst of a devastating crisis. And of course, Trump’s weapons are outrageous lies and puerile name-calling.

Trump accused Governor Gavin Newsom of refusing to sign what Trump is calling the “water restoration declaration.” No such document exists or has ever…
During Covid

Donald Trump tried to withhold giving aid to Blue states

Because they didn’t vote for him

So it should come as no surprise

That as the LA fires destroy entire neighborhoods

Leaving thousands homeless and devastated

Instead of offering to help

Trump attacks Gavin Newsom

The fires in LA are horrific and I am so heartbroken for the people and animals in its path.
I urge everyone to think about their own disaster preparedness.
Climate change is accelerating these extreme events.
The FEMA website has excellent suggestions on how to prepare (and sells kits).

The Yale study shows that more than 335,000 lives would have been saved in 2020 and more than $438 billion dollars a year would be saved in a non-pandemic year if the U.S. had had a single-payer universal health care system. Con’t…

2021 I had a patient very sick from Covid. In the seemingly new era of complete fact denial I pushed up her sleeve to place an art line and she had a tattoo of numbers.
Her daughter said ‘she survived the Holocaust but she may not survive this world of misinformation.’
I think about that a lot.
November 20, 2024 at 6:58 AM
Can we all agree to reply to asenine ill-informed comments with “stop spreading misinformation” instead of trying to engage in other ways?
It’s blunt, doesn’t use name calling, there’s no way for them to effectively respond.
At least if anyone reads the comments they’ll be flooded by this phrase.

A little louder again for those in the back:
Vaccines causing Autism has been DEBUNKED. That doctor practiced fraud and was de-licensed for his dangerous deceit.
Eliminating vaccines will kill children.
MAHA is dangerous if the movement eschews science.
RFK is a dangerous pick for HHS.
