When I think about how exquisitely careful NEH staff were to be fair, impartial, and rigorous, and how much work people put into grants so small they’re pocket change…I just want to scream.

Our beloved Alice Wong has joined the ancestors. It was one of the great honors of my life to call Alice my friend, co-author & co-conspirator. She was a true genius, a force of nature the likes of which the world has never seen before. I love you, Alice, and am equal parts grateful and devastated

I just don’t see how we can pretend even for a moment that anything involving our federal government is remotely normal when the president is covering up his involvement in a child sex trafficking ring. Like, what are we doing here

I still can’t quite believe I made this. 7 years, 127,000 words, 330 pages. I won’t ever do anything like it again.

Fuck this shit
So much unnecessary cruelty and devastation. Medical libraries and museums are a treasure trove of information and history. Not to mention staff getting double RIFed.

Can someone please invent a time traveling machine so we can reset this timeline? Something to get us back on a humane one.

🚨CDC Museum (a Smithsonian affiliate) is being shuttered🚨

Staff are being “un-RIFed” just to close the museum permanently — then RIFed again in Jan

This is bureaucratic cruelty & cultural vandalism

CDC Library is a national treasure

In today's "life goes on" moment, I stubbed my toe and split the nail right off the bed and now there is blood on my bathroom floor. Bodies, amiright?

I gave my last guest lecture in the school of public health today - for the last 5 years I’ve done a talk in the mental health policy class - and today was the best ever, so many questions and discussion, and two students were knitting which made me smile. It’s nice to go out on a good note.

It’s so…. interesting…. watching some peoples reactions when I say I’m leaving Emory and maybe also academia. It’s almost as if I have stated my intention to leave a cult or something 👀

This captures so well the feeling of trying to do scholarly work right now, to maintain and communicate the joy of it publicly. It feels embarrassing to care so much about the thing itself when all people will do is sort it into two bins, for and against.
