At long last (YEARS) my bug hotel finally has visitors. The big one is Megachile aurifrons and I think the small one is Megachile deanii. Megachile species are also known as leaf cutter or resin #bees

At long last (YEARS) my bug hotel finally has visitors. The big one is Megachile aurifrons and I think the small one is Megachile deanii. Megachile species are also known as leaf cutter or resin #bees

I'm amazed at how strong wasps are! Look at this one carrying a caterpillar across the garden, it almost looks like she's riding it sometimes 😅

I was very happy to see our first blue banded bee of the summer in our garden today. Bought some purple and pink flowers to attract them to the garden and luckily it worked 🙂

Since it's Pollinator Week in Australia - here's a blue banded bee digging a burrow in my backyard.
Also timely since the blue banded bee won the first Aus Insect of the year Poll
