I think the only thing that might happen from that Trump-Putin phone call is the hockey game between the U.S. and Russia. But it must be played in Lake Placid...

Someone needs to convince Trump that the consumer pays the tariff, not the originating country--and tell him that Charles III might have something to say about him annexing Canada since it's part of the British Commonwealth.

Andrew Garfield (aka Spider-Man) made an appearance on several exam responses as students think he was (a) president and (b) assassinated by Charles Guiteau.

Looks like the Trump bobblehead will be relocating next to the two-faced Benedict Arnold statue on Monday...

Thanks to reward points, I bought 18 eggs for $2.99 today. I feel like I won the lottery.

Rearranged the bobbleheads in my office this morning, hoping that by putting Trump between Washington and Jefferson some of their patriotic mojo might rub off. If that doesn't work, I might have to move him next to Benedict Arnold.

Carton of eggs in the fridge dated tomorrow. Just informed my mother how much that carton cost ($5.99). Told her to do something with them besides throw them out because they expire tomorrow.

Well...apparently one student thinks that emails to me should be addressed to Mr. Guenther. That's my father, and he died in March 2017. There will be a long wait for a response from him....

Didn't have "call 911 because my mother fell and couldn't get up" on my to-do list for today...but they sent a police officer to help her to her feet, and she's fine now. Just a bit embarrassed that I couldn't help her (with the drain, I have a weight limit for lifting, and she weighs a bit more).

Perhaps instead of sending troops to Canada, Trump should watch this movie first...

RIP James Kirby Martin, mentor and friend. He chose to serve as dissertation advisor to a student with a troubled academic background and over time became a trusted friend. I treasure that I was his first doctoral student that he hooded.

I'm almost at the point when I wish I still had the trophy from the 11th grade Geometry contest to display in my faculty office to show that historians can also do STEM.

Well, I won't be asking my dissertation advisor to speak to my American Revolution class, as he's hospitalized with heart issues. #JKM

I have decided to be benevolent Dr. Guenther this semester and give all students 100% for attendance, even if they didn't always attend. That way, I don't have to worry about properly calculating that grade while waiting to escape from the hospital.

One final exam has a bonus question on it. All the students had to do was watch a video assigned in class to answer it. So far, 1/3 didn't attempt it, 1/3 got the right answer, and 1/3 have had the exact same wrong answers.

Heading back to campus today for the first time in a couple of weeks--and I wouldn't be going today, except my home scanner has decided it doesn't want to communicate with my laptop.

I have decided after the past couple of weeks that the greatest thing I ever did was film the lectures in my classes in case I have to miss class because of bronchitis.
