Well, they were so unimportant that until the 25th amendment if they or the president died, they weren't replaced.

I know there was a football game televised yesterday. But it conflicted with US mixed doubles curling...and a lovely Hershey's gold medal commercial.

I learned Spanish in school. But I learned Castilian (like that's useful in the western hemisphere, unless you're reading colonial documents). It made as much sense as my maternal grandparents speaking Pennsylvania Dutch, but it definitely was a powerful performance.

Finally, football is over. More importantly, pitchers and catchers report on Wednesday.
February 9, 2026 at 7:23 PM
That would require a constitutional amendment, and I don't see it getting the support of 38 states.

Pitchers and catchers begin to report to spring training on Tuesday, February 10.

I take my mother's mail-in ballot to the elections office at the county courthouse. Otherwise, I have to pay for postage.

Not all states have early in-person voting. And it still won't help my disabled mother who can't physically make it to the polls.

Reading a manuscript submitted for an academic journal. Really nice story worthy of publication, except it lacks citations...which we really, really like to see in history journals.

If any president should have a train station named after him, it should be Biden.

It's bad for their self esteem?

I teach one course asynchronous online because it's a required course for a program taught at 3 campuses and (a) I haven't figured out how to clone myself to teach at 3 places simultaneously, and (b) it can't be offered at the same time any course in that program is taught.

Also make them wear ID and no masks.

Even better: shredded mozzarella and provolone straight out of the bag.

Are they prepping for the Puppy Bowl on Sunday?

I still felt the same way after I became a full professor. Then my dissertation advisor came to visit, saw my faculty office, and demanded a larger office because he didn't think it was right one of his former students had a larger office than he did.

I've met the Baron of Montreal...does that count?
February 3, 2026 at 7:44 PM
While they're at it, can they also get Jack Smith's report on the documents case?

Lasted 15 years. Would have lasted longer, but it was too uncomfortable driving it in Houston with vinyl seats and no AC.

1981: Datsun 210 basic model (standard, 2-door, vinyl seats, no AC or radio): $4800. Great car for grad student, until she moved back to Houston and realized sticking to the vinyl seats >9 months of the year wasn't fun.

You're selling a contract, not a person...although there is a person who has that contract who often has no say in where they're going.

If Pam Bondi had been Attorney General for Richard Nixon, we probably would have never heard about Watergate...

On Alan Alda's 90th birthday, I have to watch "Sweet Liberty." Best film about the American Revolution, especially the way it exposes how Hollywood misrepresents history. However, I do not recommend reenacting the roller coaster scene.

I bet they aren't "tremendous Trump people" anymore...
