Hello! I'm Kerry and I'm a writer and musician.

My books explore folklore, landscape, broken families and queerness; as a composer and performer my music is a mix of choral/folk/electronica/community vibes.

Here are some of my books!

Today, I've released Lullaby for Siwar, a collaboratively-made single with all proceeds (after Bandcamp's fees) going to @gazasoupkitchen.bsky.social, a charity in Gaza running multiple meal distribution locations, feeding 3,000 people a day. youarewolf.bandcamp.com/track/lullab...

An island of community. An island of interconnectedness. An island of home.

It was nice to be on telly this morning - CBBC reran the BBC Ten Pieces episode on 'Home', starting with my piece No Place Like. Look at that pink hair!

Happy Hare Moon Day!

Hares are shapeshifters and liminal creatures, often spotted on the edge of fields/woodlands, changing their colour according to the season and - according to farmer lore - their gender, too. My song Hare Song 1 took all of that as inspiration:

BIGGEST PERFORMANCE EVER! Last night, 1200 kids from Camden Music performed my 'No Place Like' @royalalberthall.bsky.social. I'd worked with schools to compose new sounds, incl. 'this bus is on a diversion' & Arsenal's' North London forever...' song. Watch at 58 mins: www.youtube.com/live/FHtnedm...

Thank you so much to my fellow musician-author Claire Kohda for her words on the book! And you must all read her novel 'Woman, Eating', which has the thrilling premise of a protagonist juggling the twin nightmares of being a struggling artist and a vampire... it's ACE.

'Keep Fighting Evil & Read More Books' is the motto @booksellercrow.bsky.social ... amen to that.

Enjoying popping into South London bookshops to sign books! Lovely to see We Are Together Because in the window in Crystal Palace & in your face @claphambooks.bsky.social ±! Thanks Jonathan & Roy!

Delighted to pop into my old local, @hernehillbooks.bsky.social to sign a window copy of the paperback of #WeAreTogetherBecause! In a time of increasing, depressing narrowness of thought, they're places to expand one's views. I've learnt so much about the world from buying books in this very shop.

Lovely to visit @bookcornerhx.bsky.social to sign their stock of #WeAreTogetherBecause & see it in such fine company (see 2nd pic)! Thank you to Sarah and Georgie for being so welcoming :) It's an awesome indie bookshop with a fine collection of local authors/interest, lit fic, children's books etc

It's HERE, it's (a bit) QUEER, it's bringing in the FEAR...

Loving this @atlanticbooks trailer for the paperback of #WeAreTogetherBecause which is out NOW! Check it out here: uk.bookshop.org/p/books/we-a...

Meta stole my novels from a piracy site along with millions of other works to train its AI. This is illegal. UK authors on average earn £7k a year (I earn less) for their work. Meta is worth trillions.

Lisa Nandy and Chris Bryant, please protect your workforce. #dothewritething #metabookthieves

Fab turnout at the #MetaBookThieves demo. Everyone comparing notes. "How many of yours did they steal?" Winner so far is Jenny Haddon, 55.

Meta stole every book I’ve written to feed their Llama AI program.

I’m joining with @societyofauthors.bsky.social today to demand #Meta pays for the work it stole. I call on the UK Government to support authors and uphold copyright. Please share!

📚 A decade on from my last job in academia, my current career is only possible because 1000s of people had faith in the power of human literature as a means to illuminate, connect, enchant.
Big AI companies stealing our work threatens that.

Hi @davidpintod.bsky.social, are you aware that Meta has stolen literally millions of books to train their generative AI?

Please stand up for the intellectual property rights of British (Hendon!) authors, share our protest, and ask META to #DoTheWriteThing and pay for our work.
