Janet Record highlights it's about doing different, not more!

Handovers often focus on recapping objective data, not examining patients together - even though reviewing the exam may change diagnostic reasoning and management up to 20% of the time!

Bedside teaching can be intimidating for teachers too! That's why our 10 Minute Moments (10MM) include faculty development info as well as learner assessment against a rubric. 9 x 10MM downloads are available, from heart murmur to jaundice.

Thanks to Stephen Russell #rcpebedside for highlighting!

Interns spend only 13% of their time by the patient bedside - is it any wonder that our clinical skills have declined?!

“In the late 1960s, Dr. Rossiter was working on her Ph.D. at Yale, when a comment from one of her male professors puzzled her. Who, she had asked, were the women in science? There were none, he said. Another professor mumbled something about Marie Curie being the exception.”🙃

In this advancing anti-expert era it is critically important that we stand with our allies across the pond in defense of their stance. It is distressing to see an entirely preventable public health disaster unfolding in the US.

Rossiter coined the term "Matilda effect" for when women's scientific work is attributed to men.

It was a twist on the "Matthew effect," famously attributed to Robert Merton, but actually studied jointly by Merton and his wife Harriet Zuckerman, who was denied co-authorship

The data gap exists for the elderly as it does for women - both are excluded from research as being too variable/complex yet treated as simple enough to be deducted from young male data.

Prof Elder and I delighted to talk about both at the PAWPA 4th Jordanian Women Physicians' Conference, Amman
