I want technology to free up my time from boring and time consuming rote work/housework for time for relationships and art making.

This is the opposite of what they are selling and is why the majority of the population is angry and hates it.

And why we should all resist it at every turn.

My and others opinions of LLMs and this AI push would change dramatically if the focus was on automating the boring and banal busywork of our lives, freeing us to be creative and make art! I don't want a machine to replace my artistic practice to free up time for other things.
November 22, 2025 at 12:49 AM
AI is actually trying to replace something of intangible pricelessness with something cheap and mass replicable. Those aren't the same things, and all of us are much worse off without actual art in the world.

AI is trying to replace something real we need with something ersatz.

And the idea that artists will just go into other careers and thus increase productivity is absurd and offensive, because it implies that art isn't productive and doesn't have value beyond commodification, which most actual artists would vehemently disagree with.

Also fuck productivity as a metric.

It can mimic and generalize technique. But it can't replicate or replace an artist's thinking, creativity, or process.

Yes, people will use the tech to make more art, but it will be of lower to terrible quality. In that sense, it cannot actually replace artists.

yeah, they're assuming it's just the same as the dot com bubble, and thus though a lot of companies will fail, there will be some blockbuster winners like Amazon turned out to be.

But it isn't the same. They truly believe you can feed a computer endless data and it will become "smart". It won't.
November 21, 2025 at 7:00 AM
oooh I hope this backfires huge for them!
November 21, 2025 at 3:58 AM
So, I think there are some of us. But probably not many, especially for those of us who did undergrad and multiple graduate degrees.
November 21, 2025 at 3:51 AM
I didn't, but I was very careful about who I worked with, mostly worked with women, and for half of my 20 years in academia was a butch presenting dyke, so I rarely get harassed by men.

But there were rumors about one of my advisors. So I actually just avoided spending time with her.

This is also a function of empire collapse. As the ability of the US to pillage around the world fades, they turn to the captive population within the empire to extract every last bit they can.

Life is going to be a lot better outside the west most likely going forward.
November 12, 2025 at 12:46 AM
evangelical end of the world cult ideology probably more makes this acceptable and palatable to those populations in the US, or even maybe makes them want to join in
November 12, 2025 at 12:43 AM
So, decimate, sicken, impoverish, and make life unaffordable and unmanageable serves many functions: cull the population, profit and further wealth and power consolidation, surveillance and control of remaining population, control the resources and necessities of life, esp housing food water energy
November 12, 2025 at 12:43 AM
The concentration of wealth among literally just a few people on the planet is at levels that are almost unfathomable. They know there will be limited resources in the future, and they want to control them, and they want to use violence to ensure no one comes for them, which will obv happen.
November 12, 2025 at 12:43 AM
All the regions around the equator will be uninhabitable soon. And while we've squandered the possibility of comfortably feeding and supporting an 8 billion population today, while it could have been made feasible, that won't be possible going forward.

It's also about wealth and power consolidation
November 12, 2025 at 12:43 AM
It probably varies within the US, but I think mostly the latter.

Climate collapse is already here. We already passed 1.5C. They're talking about evacuating Tehran because they will probably run out of water in a few weeks. This is coming everywhere, which includes crop failures etc.

All you need to know to figure out what is going on with anything is to understand that the impact IS the intention, no matter how depraved or ghoulish that seems.

The Dem establishment want the obvious outcome that will come from this as much as the republicans and the people who own both parties.
November 10, 2025 at 8:08 AM
There is one party in the US with two heads.

One head moves fast and destroys things for profit and fun while doing the bidding of billionaires.

The other does the bidding of billionaires by ensuring no positive change or substantial opposition happens.

This is Dem standard operating procedure.
November 10, 2025 at 8:06 AM
It won't help people. That's the point, to hurt and social murder us.

They want us all dead. US (and most "western") policy decisions make a lot more sense when you understand that the impact IS the intention, no matter how depraved and ghoulish it seems.

They're accelerating the collapse timeline
