"He's not a philosopher, that's just the name of the degree, dear."
Excited to receive this from my good friend Trevor Grahamslaw, his exhaustively researched history of the Cumbrian market town of Wigton.
Mainly set in the Georgian era of the Hanoverian Kings, it's a labour of love, lavishly illustrated from his vast collection of photographs.

He also did this brilliant cover for a Pertwee 'Dr Who' serial.

'The Black Cap' (1928), a collection of murder & mystery stories edited by Lady Cynthia Asquith.
The title of the anthology obviously refers to the headgear adopted by a judge passing sentence of execution.

'The Ghost Book' (1926), edited by Lady Cynthia Asquith, her story 'The Corner Shop' appears under the pseudonym C. L. Ray. The story would later be included in the anonymously edited anthology 'A Century of Creepy Stories' (1934), under her own name.

Post about books - nothing.
Post about movies - nothing.
Post about a possibly stray cat looking through our window, & the notifications go crazy.

In case anyone missed it - this still isn't our cat, we've got one thanks.

This is not our cat.

Sort of referenced this in my story 'A Protest Against Reality',

I'd forgotten Marianne was in this.

It's the Olly Grail!

Thawing, but consequently 'a bit slape', as we say in the Cumbrian patois.

Well, not a great picture..
The raptor flew out from a copse next to the bridle-path, & my phone is very old, so it's a poor zoom.
Sparrowhawk? Too big to be a Kestrel methinks?
Anyway, love when this happens.

It can actually be enlightening to misread things, I do it all the time, it's a glimpse into the alternatives. That said, we should all be receiving important messages about Freud (& the other guy).

In 2025 I must resume work on this chap #JohnStagg 'The Blin' Bard' in the Cumbrian patois, author of #TheVampyre (1810), one of the earliest vampire tales in English.
All the vampire tropes are here, fear of 'The starting ray, the bursting light', & staking, plus some curious theories as to origin!
