I didn't see the og and i don't know if it was as bad as this- ftr i don't think the problem was around the killer's gender identity as all the transphobic bs they wrote around it? I skipped one episode with the " reveal" and still got hit in the last episode with a really VILE thing. Gross!!!🤢

Tbh, I do also blame the authors. There is such a thing as ethics and so many fics are clearly being written with the intent/ hope of being pulled. I absolutely don't believe the pr story of " omg i never expected this to happen to li'l old me" anymore.

Also, i may be off base, but ( perhaps )because of the nature of the shows (16-20 episodes, single season), i feel that current kdrama fandom is actor/ idol stan culture based rather than around shows themselves. I mean, i think it's a different kind of community forming than what I've been used to

I don't think platforms like these encourage community as such? I'm guessing most of the community kind of thing is happening on discord or maybe ( if you're older and belong to that generation, on dreamwidth).

I don't post much on social media, i should have said! But i feel ya on the disconnect with what's usually popular in kdrama fanspaces!
