They were flying at a median of 750 above sea level in the Park Slope area, by my data. Call it 600 feet overhead for some areas, depending on elevation. Loud.
September 29, 2025 at 3:11 PM
By my math about 300 extra helicopters over Park Slope since Friday, peaking at about one every 2 mins 45s between 9 and 10 am today.

Exacerbated somewhat by a CBS news helicopter that hovered over the start of the Tunnel to Towers 5k in Red Hook for over an hour today.

Over the past 2 years we've averaged 25 low (<1000ft) helicopters/day over my part of Brooklyn.

Yesterday we had 107, and 108 so far today. The previous one-day record was 73 in 2024.

Convenience for a few and noise pollution for everyone else.

It’s people flying back and forth to watch golf on Long Island. Drove me nuts yesterday and woke me up this morning.

^ The site says it's quiet right now because the helicopters aren't actually flying over the park itself, just the neighborhoods nearby.

4.1, 4.1-mini, and 4.1-nano all pick up on the "trick" with various suggestions (regex that matches nothing, "did you mean English months in a German text", "did you mean i?"). Same with Gemini 2.5 flash-lite, flash, pro.

Not like, completely silent, but certainly seems like it'd be a big improvement over the super loud Blade helicopters that fly over my house every day, 450ft overhead. www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFgu...

There were even parking spaces on the other side of the street—she preferred doing a u turn and double parking to having to walk across one crosswalk.

The u-turn culture among NYC drivers is ridiculous and a symptom of the zero traffic enforcement by the NYPD.

I recently watched a woman create a giant mess of gridlock as she cut off a bus to do a u turn without enough room to complete it, only to double park in the sharrows.

Yeah it‘s an important thing for a map like that to not force your computer to to render every tiny feature of the squiggly shape of the coastlines of every state if you’re zoomed way out, but it seems like something went awry here as the shapes are too simplified.
July 27, 2025 at 4:02 PM
Looks like a polygon simplification algorithm gone wrong in some way, maybe trying to reduce the state outlines to too few points.

I think there’s disillusionment after many stories of big exits with liquidation preferences and sketchy equity clauses where only founders and investors came away with anything, and companies choosing to raise a series Z rather than IPO.

"I don't like NYC enough to even live there if I can't be the mayor" is quite a stance from someone asking the people to make him the mayor.

Also I feel like whenever people try to write disses or insults with AI it comes off like someone getting into a bar fight and yelling "Dang it, you heckin jerk, you should apologize or you'll be upset!"
