making my way down this list. omakase was a literally insane experience. flavors (specifically the sardine that they literally had to run to put on my plate, and the kumquat & scallop nigiri) that blew my mind. PRICY but worth it.

i think everyone but me knew how good 2fifty was but i try to save eating meat for very special occasions. the chopped beef sandwich and the pork short ribs were absolutely a special occasion. makes me reconsider my pescatarianism.
also got a caramelized pineapple that was essentially dessert.

went to sushi hachi last night in eastern market. been trying to find sushi that’s really good and not sushi taro level expensive. we got all this, plus another roll, two more scallop nigiri, 3 pieces of tuna sashimi, two miso soups,
and a beer for $50 each (with tip).

the mita menu lists the ingredients of the plate and yet every time they put a dish in front of me i had no idea what i was eating. superb creativity across the board. totally understand how this got a james beard nom.

was highly recommended la casina by a vegan friend. which is funny because they have no vegan cheese. but i got the vegan, cheese-less pizza and…damn.

i’ve been to 6 of the restaurants on this list. my goal for this year is to go to one on this list a month— starting with omakase in february, if i can ever get a reservation

spent the day refreshing at a korean day spa in Chantilly. they have a korean cafeteria inside so i get to stay in my spa pajamas while i eat bibimbap 🥰

i’ve been eating at the hamilton since college. i definitely think there are better spots, but sometimes i just need to sit at a bar and eat a crab cake sandwich, and it always delivers.

stayed warm last night with some ramen and bao from toki underground. not only was it awesome, but also walking distance from our house which is necessary when the roads are full of icy slush :)

snow in capitol hill today is incredible.
i remember the last big snow storm i was in dc for was 2015 and i was stuck on GWs campus out by the palisades for 3 days. you would think dc would know how to clean the snow or at least prepare better, but it doesn’t and i love it for that.

i am a huge cucina morini fan (someone get Matt Adler on bluesky @barredindc.bsky.social) but i had never done their brunch. awesome concept, i love how casual it is while still having the high quality food i expect from cucina morini. also such an affordable and light breakfast option
