i am unironically a massive creighton fan despite not knowing where it was or even that it existed until three year ago. unfortunately have yet to find the creighton bar in dc.
time to get emotionally involved on an intense but very temporary basis with basketball teams I know absolutely nothing about

i met one of the founders of Maketto last night at the restaurant he’s at now in Chicago ! if you make it out there— The Duck Inn is phenomenal

a week of 65 degree weather means we are back in tuna salad season !!!!!

a baked joint tuna salad is so good and proof that pickles should be included on every sandwich as a general rule

a PSA: the costco in arlington had 18 count eggs for $6

(also they’re currently selling the 30 piece $42 sashimi platter which is an absolute steal)

making my way down this list. omakase was a literally insane experience. flavors (specifically the sardine that they literally had to run to put on my plate, and the kumquat & scallop nigiri) that blew my mind. PRICY but worth it.

BY A MILE 🗣️🗣️
localposting: i made the mistake of trying to split a smoked beef rib with a pal at 2fifty and there was at least a pound of it left. it's advertised as "for 2-3" but really i think it's for 3-4. best bbq in DC by a mile
March 3, 2025 at 12:34 AM
i think everyone but me knew how good 2fifty was but i try to save eating meat for very special occasions. the chopped beef sandwich and the pork short ribs were absolutely a special occasion. makes me reconsider my pescatarianism.

also got a caramelized pineapple that was essentially dessert.

went to sushi hachi last night in eastern market. been trying to find sushi that’s really good and not sushi taro level expensive. we got all this, plus another roll, two more scallop nigiri, 3 pieces of tuna sashimi, two miso soups,
and a beer for $50 each (with tip).

went to an absurdly overrated restaurant tonight. gonna need a palate cleanse

EatBrgz has forever changed my relationship to burgers. Kimchi is now my favorite burger topping. One of the few places that made their vegan burgers as good as their beef. This is truly sad news.

the mita menu lists the ingredients of the plate and yet every time they put a dish in front of me i had no idea what i was eating. superb creativity across the board. totally understand how this got a james beard nom.

is it common knowledge that Chaplins does a $40 bottomless veuve brunch ?? i can’t imagine they make money on that but what an incredible brunch vibe
January 27, 2025 at 12:20 AM
went to maketto’s dim sum brunch today. run not walk. i’m so serious.
January 25, 2025 at 7:02 PM
was highly recommended la casina by a vegan friend. which is funny because they have no vegan cheese. but i got the vegan, cheese-less pizza and…damn.
January 24, 2025 at 1:50 AM
i’ve been to 6 of the restaurants on this list. my goal for this year is to go to one on this list a month— starting with omakase in february, if i can ever get a reservation
