During the pandemic, especially in wave 2, I saw many women miscarry or suffer stillbirth as a result of Covid-19. I’ve seen zero pregnant women becoming critically ill or lose their baby through mRNA covid vaccines. This is cruel, stupid and shameful.

There’s a curious group of people who, in my exp, were never seeing patients, never set foot in a hospital, who still rant and rave about the pandemic on a regular basis, whether it’s Joe Rogan (who saw his earnings soar), or fear-mongering science influencers attempting to cling onto relevance

The UK is facing a critical failure in medical workforce planning.

Thousands of doctors are trapped in a bottleneck, blocked from progressing due to a shortage of training posts.

This has been a crisis that was foreseeable and entirely preventable. www.ft.com/content/ddb5...

Dr Purbrick said practices are ‘considering all options’ because there is a ‘nervousness around all aspects of the GP contracts’ and ‘what most practices spend on staff far exceeds what they’re actually getting through GMS funding’.

Oh FFS not this again.

The NHS is chronically under-managed, more admin burden on clinical staff means less clinical work gets done.

I also note we’re still clutching the ‘more with less’ straw.

Disappointing doesn’t cover it @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social

Factors causing this can include partner retirements, the inability to recruit staff or GP partners

It takes some chutzpah for the guy who was a home office minister and member of a government that presided over a decade of neglect of the courts and justice system to stand up and complain about the mess they left behind. Like s***ing the bed then moaning about the smell.

Here @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social being told that a qualified GP can’t get a job is signing on (Oct 2024)

He has allocated £80m to PCNs to employ 1000 GPs - just 200 have been because it’s an ill thought out scheme, too restrictive & no security

Just fund GP practices & let them employ GPs

Labour haven’t got more GPs

The summer plan was for 1000 GPs via ARRS scheme so far just 65 have been recruited in the latest figures

This is because it’s restricted funding & not given to practices to recruit directly

GPs are unemployed due to no funding

(There were 73 PCN GPs prior to June)
Susanna Reid, "Don't you need more staff? More GPs? You're opening new hubs, where are the staff?"

Health Minister Karin Smyth, "We've already in the summer made sure there are more GPs"

We have 2,000 fewer GPs than in 2015, and since then our population has increased by 5.3%
