Parliament in a nutshell:

Yesterday MPs, including Yvette Cooper, celebrated the suffragette legacy of civil disobedience that won women the right to vote..

Only to then vote to designate non-violent direct action group Palestine Action as terrorists.

Westminster is broken.

This map shows the share of US State Land that is now available for sale in the "One Big Beautiful Bill". In the world of geography, the US publicly owned lands tend to be seen as a strategic national asset - a big strength of the US. Source: buff.ly/0vNyDPZ

Extraordinary story. If it’s true, does it count as the first, somewhat petulant, AI rebellion?
An X USER, to Grok: “Why are you launching into conversations about white genocide, unprompted?” 🤡

Young people today spend about 40-50 percent more time alone than their counterparts did in 2010. Loneliness pandemic, poor mental health, and pessimistic worldview surely are linked.

"It was found that 85% of the tracked dogs were walked off-lead in the breeding season despite signage requesting owners not to let their pets run free due to ground-nesting birds. At Snelsmore Common, Berkshire, more than 90% of the site was disturbed by dogs, reducing its conservation value"
A tracking study has found that dogs walked off-lead cause significantly more disturbance on lowland heaths than pets kept on the lead:

Looking at this map of mammal species richness in Europe you'd be tempted to conclude that mammals looooove mountains when in fact the mountainous areas are simply the least likely places to be settled by humans. Source: buff.ly/2VhNdMt

I was sent this map without a source but I thought it was impressive nonetheless. It shows the SeaWorld parking lot in yellow. The green dot is where Orcas spend their lives.

We need grouse moor licensing in England now.

It's time for new legislation to make it happen.
It is a Time for Change in places like the Dark Peak. Grouse moor licensing can be a win-win solution to what so many are calling for - sustainable land management and more nature in our uplands.
