Old, White, cisgender straight guy who believes that all people of all ages, ethnicities, genders and sexual orientations have inherent value and are worthy of respect.

History Lesson: The ones putting people in camps are *ALWAYS* the bad guys.

It's guaranteed we'll get this again at the end of January if Schumer is still minority leader, which is why we must pressure Senate Democrats to replace him *NOW*.

My choices: One of Murphy, Duckworth, or Van Hollen.

He does sound 'best', in that he's basically the platonic ideal of a cat.

We have a nomination to add Merkley to the list.

Smith is retiring, and Warren and Sanders are too old to start as Senate Leader (and of course Sanders isn't even a Democrat). But I suggest Murphy, Duckworth, or Van Hollen, or a leader they endorse.

Pep talks aren't going to fix this, Senator. We need to see real change.

I'm just a (fairly online) guy. I don't know who the best choice is to lead the Democrats. But AFAICT, there are a half-dozen Democrats who understand what is needed at this moment:

- Murphy
- Duckworth
- Van Hollen
- Smith
- Warren
- Sanders

Schumer needs to go, and Senate Democrats like you need to make it happen.

(Separately, there is the matter of Schumer's refusal to endorse Mamdani, a man who is clearly the future of the Democratic party. Schumer's refusal to embrace him underscores that he's a dinosaur).

That obviously won't happen. But if Schumer is still leading the Democrats on January 30, Senate Democrats will find they have ZERO public support to put up with one second of a shutdown, knowing that Senate Democrats are just going to play games.

It was a betrayal of the highest order to force a shutdown for 6 weeks --- make federal workers work without pay, give the fascists an excuse to suspend SNAP --- and then settle for a bill which they could have voted for on September 30.

Schumer and the quislings should resign from the Senate.

All due respect, Senator, but Schumer is the wrong person to lead the Democrats. He has now led Democrats to cave --- twice.

He failed to meet the moment in April, he failed to meet it yesterday.

I'm not uniting with failure. Most Democrats won't. And we shouldn't.

It's boring football (unless you're an Iggles fan).

Conversely, the 'definitely not' list:

- Schatz
- Durbin
- Peters
- Klobuchar
- Cortez-Masto
- Rosen
- Shaheen
- Hassan
- Warnock
- Ossoff
- Gillibrand
- Fetterman
- Kaine
- Murray

Crap. I'm starting to see what Sanders means.

Obviously this isn't taking into account retirements and age.

I'm just a (pretty online) guy, and I've spent the past 24 hours trying to figure out who the 'good guys' are who would be good replacements for Schumer.

So far, I've got:

- Murphy
- Duckworth
- Van Hollen
- Warren
- Smith
- Sanders

Anyone I'm missing?

Seems sadly appropriate that the 2028 Olympics are planned to take place in Donald Trump's America.

For now, at least.

Suggestion:

Try to pressure Senate Democrats to replace Schumer *NOW* (or before January 30, at any rate).

Otherwise, we'll have to sit through a third edition of kabuki cave theater then.

My humble suggestions for the new leader:

Murphy
Duckworth
Van Hollen
