I take Caltrain to Palo Alto now whenever I go down there. It’s like riding on trains in Europe. Fast, quiet, smooth. It’s an enormous improvement!

I’ve had “Birdhouse In Your Soul” by They Might Be Giants stuck in my head for a week. Exceptionally clever wordplay—especially the bit about Jason and the Argonauts. Still, I’d prefer it stuck in your brain instead.

Earnest post, but: a thing I like here is it’s okay to have moments of happiness in public without being broadly scolded, and I believe that sustaining this kind of humanity will be very important as we resist fascism.

We have to sustain each other. Making joy isn’t denial, it’s how we will survive

Openvibe seems pretty great so far. I definitely miss some features from Ivory, but I presume they will add some of them over time. Sticking with it for a while as an experiment…

Fully agree with this. I also hope someone who is not me build an omni-Fediverse client for all the different protocols so we can have a unified experience if we so choose. Also I wish the name IndieWeb had won over Fediverse but whatever.
My feeling, which I expect will encounter some resistance for a while, is that if Bluesky succeeds (for whatever definition of "success"), it's just part of the fediverse. Email has thrived for decades with multiple protocols behind the scenes; there's no reason open social networks can't do so too.
