So let me get this straight: masks are bad and un-American if worn to fight a pandemic, but good if worn by people claiming to be government agents when they kidnap people off the street

"What did PBS shows teach you?"

Mister Rogers taught us feelings are mentionable and manageable.

Reading Rainbow taught us discovering books is joy.

Sesame Street taught us learning through the kindness of community by way of our friends.

Bill Nye taught us to observe wonder through science.

Listening to the Rewatchables 2-part Star Wars episode. This was the first movie I ever saw in the theater and probably the movie I’ve seen more than any other.

Love this episode but as a fan of both Rewatchables and Star Wars, I’ve got nits to pick.

I’ve long since arrived at the point in my life where Spotify has taken to recommending me playlists full of songs I first heard 35 years ago when they were sampled by 2 Live Crew.

And I’m…not mad about it.

David Brooks, who holds no advance degrees but has nevertheless served as a visiting professor at both Duke and Yale -- solely on the basis of his conservative ideas -- thinks that universities are deeply unfair to conservative thinkers.

35 years ago today, Ha! Comedy network went on the air.

Mostly I remember the ads they ran on MTV, like this one:

You do not have to consume every single tiny piece of bad news in order to be a good person. It’s ok to miss things. Traumatizing yourself isn’t the same as activism. Bearing witness to the point that you’re paralyzed with fear and horror and fury isn’t going to help us get through this.
Remember their goal is to terrorize us. And social media is a fantastic way to spread terror. We don’t have to help them.
Based on the vibes of my timeline today I’m feeling like the next two weeks are probably gonna be a really good time to reduce social media use as much as possible. Because YIKES.

If you try to steal a loaf of bread, and hurt no one in the process, America will throw you in prison.

If you try to steal an election, and hurt lots of people in the process, America with throw you a party, give you its most prestigious job, and millions of dollars to squander on your vulgarity.

Today, Congress certified the results of a free and fair election.

Folks: please be diligent about not disseminating Ann Telnaes' cartoon in a way that she's not getting the clicks on it (until she says differently). Her IP matters now more than ever.

Make it go viral but make sure she benefits.

Finally getting around to watching Star Wars: Skeleton Crew with my son. It is basically an American suburban coming of age story reskinned with Star Wars theming. Apparently there was IKEA and OXO Good Grips in a galaxy far, far away.

But I’m not mad at it.
