Covering the Chicago Bulls for “The Bigs” — the only Black-owned and fully-credentialed independent, sports media outlet in the city.

If the Bulls can shake off the injury bug, run opponents ragged and figure out how to make a respectable defense out of thin air, they just might…

Ah, who’re we kidding?

We’re here for Matas Buzelis.

A 121-120 come-from-behind victory in a game in which the Bulls (9-7) trailed by as many as 16 points

About how you expected it to go?

Nikola Vučević, 28 points and 12 rebounds

Coby White, 20 points

Josh Giddey, 18/12/11 triple-double

Matas Buzelis, 13 points and 3 blocks

Bulls hold the Wizards to 29 second-quarter points, but, after shooting 8-for-26 from the field, manage to score just 24 of their own.

Nikola Vučević leads the team with 14 points.

Coby White (13) and Matas Buzelis (14) are the other Bulls in double figures.
The Wizards made 52.2% of their shots and all 13 of their free throws in the first quarter.

On a related note, the Bulls have two fast-break points to their name.

Wizards 41, Bulls 40
What happens when a team that wants to learn how to win but needs to lose runs up against a team in transition missing three rotational players and capable of losing on any given night?

Tre Johnson will be a game-time decision, per Brian Keefe.
Wizards list sixth-overall pick Tre Johnson “questionable.”

Alex Sarr, who’s averaging 18.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.2 blocks and missed Washington’s previous two games, isn’t listed.

Out:
Dalen Terry, Patrick Williams, Isaac Okoro

In:
Matas Buzelis, Kevin Huerter (“is gonna try”), Tre Jones
Bulls list Matas Buzelis, Kevin Huerter, Isaac Okoro and Patrick Williams as “questionable” for tonight’s game against the Wizards.

Tre Jones is “probable.” Dalen Terry is “doubtful.”

Coby White isn’t listed.

Coby White and Zach Collins didn’t play, but the Heat were missing four players from their rotation, including Tyler Herro.

If this game is any indication, Miami, with its incessant dribble drives, remains a matchup nightmare for the Bulls.
The Bulls have their two-game win streak snapped in a 143-107 laugher, fall to 8-7 on the season.

They’ll play their fifth and final game in this seven-day stretch against the Wizards on Saturday, with Coby White likely back in the lineup.

It’s early, but we’re at a point in the season where we can take net rating seriously.

To that end, the Bulls are playing like a 41-win team which, for the moment, means they’d finish behind Detroit, Toronto, New York, Boston, Miami, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Orlando, and Atlanta.
The order will change, but, barring injury or a miraculous comeback from one, the postseason landscape in the East feels set.

And while the Bulls will feast on the bottom of the conference more often than not, so too will the other nine teams pictured below.

The Bulls announce Noa Essengue has been assigned to Windy City, who plays in Iowa tonight.

Both Coby White and Tre Jones are listed as “questionable” for Bulls/Heat on Friday, while Jalen Smith is “probable.”

Bam Adebayo, who returned to Miami’s lineup on Wednesday after a six-game absence, isn’t listed.

Shaedon Sharpe is “doubtful” for the Trail Blazers.

Bulls list Tre Jones “questionable” and Jalen Smith “probable” for their tilt with the Trail Blazers on Wednesday.

Will be interesting to see if Coby White makes his return to the starting lineup considering he ran through his minutes restriction on Sunday.

The Bulls have outscored their opponents in bench points in all but two games so far this season.

The running tally is 625-424, overall.

If a lottery pick enters a game for 13 seconds, can we call it a debut?
November 18, 2025 at 3:28 AM
The Bulls are taking an interesting, albeit predictable, approach to tonight’s game, on the second night of a back-to-back with three more contests to play this week.

The Bulls list Tre Jones “doubtful” for tilt with Nuggets.

Ayo Dosunmu is “probable” with left hamstring tightness.

The Bulls drop their fifth-straight game, drop to 6-6.

They face the Nuggets — who’ll be without Christian Braun and, possibly, Cam Johnson, too — Monday.

Neither Coby White nor Tre Jones are expected to play.
Bulls (6-5) suffer their fourth loss in a row, will have three days off before a stretch — bookended by back-to-back sets — that’ll see them play five games in seven nights.

Josh Giddey will almost certainly be back on Sunday.

No gimmes below, in my opinion:

Josh Giddey “probable,” Coby White and Tre Jones “questionable” for Bulls/Jazz on Sunday.

When the Bulls traded for then-31-year-old Nikola Vučević, Zach LaVine was 26, Lauri Markkanen was 23, Patrick Williams was 19, and Coby White was 21

The average age of their current core — Matas Buzelis, Josh Giddey, Noa Essengue, plus, for now, Ayo Dosunmu and White — is 22.4
