This seems to be something I do a lot of.

I laughed our loud a little, which I don't usually do.

Yes, my youngest turned 35 in November. It's mind blowing!

Well, those replies didn't seem to be in the order I posted them. Grumble. Still figuring this platform out. But I did number them! So try to read all 9 in order!

I hope we never get there. But I'm telling you now, this is why trans and non binary people are being targeted. I hope it doesn't work the way they want it to, but it could.

Trying to put women "back in their place" is a real thing, that many people have wanted to do for a long time.

It might not be long before women can be fired for getting pregnant, or getting married. Women might not be able to get credit without the help of a man. Maybe she won't be able to own property in her own name. It's a slippery slope.

But, if you can get people to agree that a very tiny minority of the population is "bad" because they don't follow gender expectations, it then followes that anyone who doesn't follow gender expectations is bad, and it's pretty easy to make those expectations more and more restrictive.

It's because if sex/gender isn't accurately assigned at birth, there is no real basis to discriminate against women, because it means that sex/gender doesn't really matter all that much in the definition of what a human is. (And it really doesn't matter that much)

What some people don't seem to understand is that the reason non-binary and trans people are being targeted is not to protect women.

Unfortunately, any arguments which paint women as significantly different from men leads us down a path of "separate but equal", which we all know from the civil rights movement of the mid twentieth century, is not really equal.

I firmly believe that neither sex nor gender makes someone so different from anyone else that their human rights should be different.

I've thought something similar. I don't really enjoy "Twitter like" media. But there are good things about this place. Mostly, I like that it's not Meta.

Of course! Glad to see you here.

I've been looking for work since May. I just bookmarked that site, I'll take a look tomorrow.

I really only pay attention to people's I follow and people who follow me. Which works for me. Uninterested in random people.

Vulnerability isn't easy, especially when one is out of practice.

That took three posts not two. I'm still getting used to these limits.

I still have the default label of the gender assigned at birth. I think the "no label" folks mean well, but just don't realize that I'm already labeled whether I like it or not, and the default label is wrong. (3/3)

It bothers me when people say things to me like "I don't see why you feel you need to label yourself". It bothers me because if I don't choose a new label, such as non-binary, (2/3)
