There was a solder bridge forming a short circuit beneath the IC socket of the 4514 IC in this schematic. It must have been there after a previous failed repair attempt from somebody else. It was pretty difficult to track down! The symptom was many keys (the ones on the two rows) weren’t triggering.

Got a vintage Arp Odyssey mk1 recently. I had the Korg reissue for a while but the real deal can’t be beat.
