Saw an article today describing the age of the average homebuyer as 59. It enraged me. So I thought of this image and determined every article quoting this NAR report was fucking chatgpt, and the average age is ... 40. Still enraging.

Played Tend a second time today with my better half, and the pain of learning paid off.

Two players is a lot better than one, and knowing what you're doing makes it move a lot faster, and in my case having a feel for the balance of points let me score more effectively. Maybe.

I broke out the deluxe flip-and-write Tend by IV Studios today to teach myself the game. I like! But I messed up every single rule at least once.

got to play Zoo Tycoon the boardgame today for the first time.

Also played Innovation with only the base set. @daedalus4096.bsky.social put it well - smells like Fluxx. It's a very lightweight Civ-style game about technologies and how they shape the world. Hard to think strategically about due to the breadth of possibilities and difficulty keeping them in mind.

Played Artemis Odyssey yesterday - Low-key 4X whose distinguishing mechanic is that phases are selected by the players in round-robin way. Works great, very light-weight. If I were 15 years newer to the hobby it'd be a home run.

Each turn was simple: Play the tile in your hand, score the result, pull another from the bag. There was a territory-holding aspect, a desire to build chains, and a tug-of-war between pursuing your interests and stymieing others.

Today we played Rebirth, a kickstarter by the prolific designer Knizia. This one lands well with me, and not _just_ because understanding play clicked and I could read the board well quickly.
