Lilly Lives Alone (2025) is a surreal and ambiguous film exploring loss, grief, and mental instability. With a razor sharp script, outstanding direction, and compelling performances, I highly recommend giving this one a watch.

Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 is far better than it is remembered to be. It's a campy and over the top reenactment film that expands on the lore of the The Blair Witch Project and it features solid direction and some commendable performances.

Film Review | No One Will Save You is a compelling science fiction horror movie that features a very solid creature design. The story is told with almost no dialogue yet it's lead performance from Kaitlyn Dever is strong and worth a watch for that alone

Horror imprints itself on our memory, but it does it in two very different ways. One can be recalled without a visceral reaction, but some fears run so deep they can cause an immediate fight or flight response. We'll look at how both systems work in today's Terror Talk.

The Blair Witch Project (1999) is one of my top 5 favorite movies. I love (respectfully) visiting Burkittsville and the other filming locations when I get a chance. The town is absolutely beautiful, with buildings dating back to 1821 and a Cemetery dating back to 1831.

Horror asks us to be active participants in our own fear, supplementing their budget with our nightmares. This is what inspires creativity in the horror community. We all have stories to tell and our love of horror brings that out of us.

The Mutilator (1984) is a campy, low budget, indie Slasher. With an awesome synth score, great practical effects, and a unique location, if you like campy indie slashers you'll love this film. It also has the weirdest movie tie-in song of all time.

Terror Talk: The Terrible Place and Initiation

Why are some horror locations so iconic, and why do they leave a lasting impression on us? Some pivotal locations are sites of rights of passage for our main characters and for ourselves. They serve as modern temples of initiation.

Final girls are a necessary part of any slasher film (for the most part). They balance the vengeance the slasher brings, and put brakes on the unbridled chaos. Without a final girl we never get back to the stasis at the start of the film.

Terror Talk: Why We Love Slashers

The Slasher subgenre has been controversial, looked down on, and demonized, but I think there is more there than the general public sees. Slashers tend to speak to our inherent sense of justice, and that is wonderful catharsis for horror fans. #horrorsky

Empathy is the horror fan's superpower. Horror as a genre demands empathy and compassion for it to be scary. That emotional skill is what makes our community strong.

The Horror Community is one of the kindest and most supportive I've seen. I think a lot of that is because we expel both our fears and our bad intentions through the act of watching horror.
