There's a reason Julia Child was an icon & this cookbook is timeless. First time making coq au vin. Not sure there's a good way to photograph it. Only took 3 hours, but damn that was amazing. Paired it with spatzle. Worth the time.

Came here to see if I was interpreting this correctly. Seems like I am.

The very talented @cailyncreative.bsky.social took inspiration from Ruby at the vet & created this masterpiece on our whiteboard in the lab. Pretty sure we can never use it again & I'm ok with that. Makes me smile every time I see it.

Thanks again Cailyn!

Feels like the world is on fire lately. So enjoy this pic of Ruby at the vet's office just after getting her vaccines. She loves the vet. Feel like she'd make a great receptionist.

Someone is continuing to take good care of me while I'm home sick. Just nestled into the crook of my leg. :)

The upside to being home sick is all the Ruby cuddles. At least I submitted my CIHR in time....

One of the perks of running is you get to see all the sites of the cities you run in first thing in the morning.

The world feels terrible these days. Glad to have this goober around to make it a bit better. Hope she makes your day a bit better too.

What our university thinks is not worth telling us versus what really happened.

Full story here. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

They updated how they notify us after the debacle after a knife attack on campus. I'm not sure this is much better than before.

You have to appreciate the little face in the window eagerly anticipating my arrival home.

Clearing out the -20C. Found this covid gem. We were looking at Spike protein palmitoylation, along with probably half a dozen other labs. The van der Goot lab published some very nice work on this.

I think it's time to toss these samples tho.

My morning got off to an interesting start. Scooped this little injured buddy from under our steps. Ruby found it, but I don't think she hurt it. Hoping the Waterloo humane society can help it further.

Yesterday I ran my first half marathon in 14 years (my 2nd ever) on McNab's Island in Halifax Harbour. What an amazing setting & sometimes brutal course, but so much fun. I've never been to the island. We ran thru old forts, cemeteries, & along the rocky shores. Amazing experience.
My legs hurt.

I miss Halifax. After my grant rejection, spent the afternoon relaxing and kayaking along the Dingle.

Goodbye NewPI Slack! You will be missed. Thanks for everything! Thank you @pracheeac.bsky.social & everyone who started NewPI. It was a lifesaver, esp during the pandemic! Special thanks to the Canadian Channel!

Thank you to everyone who donated and/or came to the Walk to End ALS today! I think it was a very successful event. Special thanks to my lab members who helped make shirts, volunteered at the walk, & walked the walk! You're amazing!

Love this dog. She's absolutely ridiculous. She slept for 10 hours & was still in bed when I was leaving for work. Wakes up looking like she's recovering from a late night rave, but still has to do a 9-5 job....watching out for squirrels in the yard.

Thank you CBC! You know neither one of them is comfortable thinking of this as a lovers quarrel. 👌
