We don’t have to wait for a global pandemic to show us that we can live and do things differently.

Music on the Mount is a sober music festival. 2,000 people having a great time without the need for alcohol or mind altering substances. Such a great energy, culture and presence here yesterday.

What an amazing day of celebration of so many amazing people at the Recovery Connections Awards today!

The dedication, care, compassion and impact of so many teams from Recovery Connections in my home stomping ground of the North East is truly remarkable.

Dot Smith you must be very proud!

Great to be in Brazil at the 29th World Federation of Therapeutic Communities. I was sharing how recovery communities decolonise contemporary structures creating heterotopias for change, growth and healing.

Growing up as a kid I often felt lonely and not always understood. I know firsthand the value of friendship and allyship in my own journey.

I was so grateful to be presented with an award by Faces and Voices of Recovery Brazil for being a ‘friend of recovery’. Thank you so much ❤️

Learning and teaching is more than the communication of information Education is transformative.

Really touched by the kind comments of some of my wonderful third year undergraduate students on my substance misuse module as we had our last session for 2024 today.

My research points to the transformative potential of Inclusive Recovery Cities as heterotopias—spaces fostering well-being, connectedness, and quality of life, not only for those in recovery but for entire communities.

Super excited about this book & series by New Central Media. It challenges epistemic violence & participation. Placing those with experiences of prison, addiction & recovery as the authors & knowledge producers. Their words are unsanistised & uninterpreted by academics.
