The recipe is in The Kitchen Diaries - as is his amazing Xmas pud recipe - full of figs, candied fruit, quince, and all good things 😋

At least Hanukkah is earlier this year 😅

My take on multicultural Britain is to take all the wins on all the celebrations 🥰

Why would one not?

For anyone whose household has been similarly felled by seasonal lurgies, who is now running late making the Xmas cake, I can heartily and waist-bustingly recommend Nigel Slater’s recipe 👇🏻

All done bar the weekly feeding!

Two weeks late, but better late than … no cake 😱

Over the next few days, around 30,000 Jewish men were rounded up and imprisoned mainly in Dachau, Sachsenhausen & Buchenwald

These imprisonments led to the ‘Kindertransport’ and to the Kitchener camp rescue, which began in February 1939, & which brought out around 4,000 men from the camps to the UK

And what a time to decide to rely on US checks and safety regulations - for nuclear power stations of all things.
October 28, 2025 at 9:23 AM
Indeed.

Buying US nuclear power stations looks political rather than practical - or indeed sensible.

As well as 10,000 German-speaking Jewish refugees who fought in the British army in the Second World War.

Including many 100s of Kitchener refugees, most of whom had been imprisoned in Dachau, Sachsenhausen & Buchenwald in November 1938.

Again - *10,000 Germans served in the British army in WWII*

AI & MS Office

Went to cancel Office sub. Offered 2 free months.

👍🏻 gives time to check docs (esp company & death docs for HMRC)

Went to turn off auto billing & THEN given option to stay on old sub without planet-destroying AI!

So 2 free months & no AI

And now you know how to do it as well.

Hi Adrian - Heckroth's Tribunal card and internment info 👇

Lots more info at Australian Nat Archives - search for him by name. He was in Hay camp, released April 1941.

I’m not a millennial, but have learned a lot from you guys - not least that it’s ok to admit to struggling.

I have generally not been one to buy cutesy stuff thru my lifetime, but in light of 👆🏻 bought myself an emotional support owl, that looks at me like this 👇🏻 every morning when I open the blinds

I quite like this way of denoting temperature on the weather app…

Like there’s two people sitting around a Met Office office.

One going, in an officious, enthusiastic voice: “15 degrees today!”

And his mate, Marvin-the-paranoid-android, going: “Feels more like 13”

Gloomy day, init.

Psyching myself up to go for a walk this afternoon - to at least feel like I’ve seen what passes for daylight.

A new law stated that German Jews must adopt a middle name: ‘Israel’ for men; ‘Sara’ for women.

The names had to be used on all official documents.

My dad was imprisoned in Dachau as the deadline approached, so his father traveled to Berlin to get it done.

My dad’s passport with a J stamp, 1939 👇🏻

On the inside pages is the Leave to Land at Dover stamp that saved my father’s life on the Kitchener Camp rescue.

That stamp is where I took the title of the Kitchener exhibition from.
