Sonic Unleashed (2008, Sonic Team)

This was generally pretty miserable to play. The locales are neat and the sense of speed in the day stages is great, but it feels so janky most of the time.
The PC port/recomp is some excellent work though, playing this at 240fps is a delight.

The French Connection (1971, dir. William Friedkin)

Doyle is an unlikeable failure and Gene Hackman does a great job protraying him. The way events unfold had me shaking my head (complimentary).
This movie needs a 4K rescan badly, the Blu-Ray version looks horrible.

You're my big bro by barely 2 months and that's fucked up. Happy birthday

Wow it's really been two years since you made that video! This is a good time to once again tell you how much I appreciate that you covered this topic, I remember seeing this fake Persona 5 in the early 2010s and wondering what it was about.

A Beautiful Mind (2001, dir. Ron Howard)

It's okay. The film isn't very interesting visually and none of the characters felt sympathetic, but I thought the last act was nice.

Once they're all dead, I position the metal plate in just the right spot and bingo, it actually is long enough to connect the ground and the base in the tree. I walk up and get the loot.

At this point I have a thought: what about those metal plates I just used? They might just long enough to make an alternate ramp. So I go back and bring over the metal plate to the camp with magnesis. Turns out I don't even need to fight fair, I can just slam down the plate onto the goblins' head.

As I get closer the goblins throw rocks at me and the only way into the base is via a ramp that is currently raised. I'm sure there is an expected way to lower the ramp but I haven't figured it out. I tried shooting arrows into the ropes keeping it up but no reaction.

Xenogears (1998, Square)

This might be the most narratively ambitious game I've ever played. But the team bit off way more than it could chew and the degree to which disc 2 is compromised sours the experience.
Still, this is very impressive work and I'm now interested in the whole franchise.
