So, I gave myself a scheduling conflict here: I’ve started to use my commute to work on some other projects I would usually do at home—effectively turning my route into studio time rather than a moment for public sketching.

Made some icon vignettes for the characters who took part in this tale, might make more art for the whole thing later on down the road. For now though, I’m gonna put the spreadsheets and near-100 page doc on this adventure down, and go play another friend’s game.

Every artist I know is really struggling right now. Financially, emotionally, their confidence, in general.
If you like an artist's work, support them any way you can. Buying their stuff or subscribing to their Patreon is great, but words of encouragement are also incredibly helpful.

In the spirit of self-reflection during the end of the year, here’s a quick shot of the progress made for 2024 in my sketchbook. I’ll show some of my favorites in detail later on, but it’s been so gratifying to see the difference between this year and the handful of faces drawn in ‘23 (2nd picture).

This sketchbook’s been one heck of an anchor point for me to hold onto. Esp these past few years. Unexpected, but unsurprising. I suppose that’s how habits are, once they become.

When I finish the first half of this sketchbook (still a bit to go, but nearly there!), I’ll do a side-by-side comparison of the previous years.

That last week of the month always sneaks up right behind me… but here we are again.

Having unintentionally set a bar of completing one page per month has really helped me with moving forward through slower weeks, and it’s been all the more gratifying to have weeks like this, where there are a few more chances to draw some folks.
Weird, it’s like setting goals is constructive 🤪

Posting the page update for July a week early! I’m going to be a shut-in next week to work on something exciting that, naturally, I can’t talk about yet. Still might post a page from years past when I was in NYC, but we’ll return with new faces come August.

I’ve quickly discovered where I’m able to sit on public transit makes all the difference in how many faces I can try to capture. And even then, sometimes it’s out of my hands and I’ll sit in a spot where only the back of people’s heads are visible, and… that’s not necessarily the goal here. ✍️😅
