The protests & slowdowns & leaks & refusals to comply & boycotts & strikes & antifascist art & gumming up the works & sanctuary projects & all the other stuff that we’ve got to run all at once have to feel like that too.

Break their hold bit by bit.

Here, there, & over here too, until - whoosh.
It's hard to overstate how destructive the reflexive "this is a distraction!" stuff that politicians and commentators and people are always peddling.

Everything is happening all at once. That's how authoritarianism works. If you can't navigate and synthesize this, you're not meeting the moment.

Usually the only time I don’t agree with Will Bunch is when he’s writing about sports, but I’ll take this one. (13 Ks through 6 for MacKenzie, beating Max Scherzer’s opening day record.)
This has got to be the best performance by anyone named Gore in the history of D.C.

Haven't written in a while, but my new essay is up at Substack, on just how mundane resistance really is -- and how that's great news!

Frances Perkins is a huge hero of mine. I’ve worked in occupational health & safety for 30+ years, and took for granted that we would be building on to her accomplishments. It’s stunning and depressing to see them in jeopardy instead.

I saw Patrick Page as Iago almost 20 years ago and remember how incredibly malevolent he was. This is a fascinating show: Shakespearean montage crossed with TED Talk. Apparently Page is also turning this into a book (due in 2026) but so worth seeing live if you can.
