Ah, so YOU'RE my competition!

Nope, after I sent the link to my Bsky post with an image of me finishing the final battle I could no longer find myself on the board. I hadn't checked if I was still on the board before that, but I know I was originally. My account still has my run info on it, too.

For the past almost-month I've been doing the Final Fantasy Tactics 5-job fiesta run. Squire, Thief, Chemist, Black Mage & Samurai. Incredibly difficult during Wiegraf and in the final Mullonde run. But I just beat Ultima and feel so accomplished! Down to the wire with only a day to go!

My Instagram has decided to tell me that @connorratliff.bsky.social is posting ads for a food service called Wonder on his stories?

30 Rock Season 1 - Current dinner/weekend laze about show. I watched it as it originally aired but my fiancée (who used to work at 30 Rock) had never seen it, so it seemed like a natural one to show her. Mostly holds up! A lot more serialized than I realized watching weekly. Dr. Spaceman GOAT.

Batman Static Beyond # 1 by Evan Narcisse & Nikolas Draper-Ivey - As a kid Batman Beyond & Static Shock were two of my favorite shows, so I had to pick up this new team-up comic. The beginning was a little confusing, but when it leaves space I got into it. There was even a Zeta reference!

Stiller & Meara: Nothing is Lost

An engrossing look at a two people, their lives, their marriage, and how they navigated their careers and family life. A testament to the fortitude and wonder of marriage and partnership, on and off stage. Walked away thinking that long marriages are miracles.

Doctor Who: The Prison Paradox #1: "The Prisoner Paradox" by Dan Watters

Batman/Superman: World's Finest #44: "We're Not Dating" by Mark Waid and Mark Russell

Quick Stops Vol. 3 #2: "Sentimental Attachment - A Sendoff to Shannen and a Requiem for Rene" by Kevin Smith

Falling behind here, so here's a quick list of comics I've read in the last week or so.

Action Comics #1,090 & 1,091 by Mark Waid

Immortal Legend Batman #3 by Kyle Higgins and Mat Groom

DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Chaos Crisis #2 by Ian Flynn

Immortal Legend Batman #2 by Kyle Higgins - Basically sci-fi western meets Batman meets Kamen Rider. He's got a suit that he transforms into, shouts out his powers and all the normal Batman villains are shape shifting monsters. Very clearly toku-inspired. Big Toonami Adult Swim vibes. Digging it.

One Battle After Another - A pretty good movie but maybe a victim of its own success - people are talking about it like it's the best of the decade, & I thought it was good but not the best thing I've ever seen. I want PTA to apologize to me for the amount of Penn close-ups. More at

Stitch #3 by Connor Ratliff & James III - This is the comic that got me back into comics recently! I've followed Connor's work for years, and his & James' podcast Tiny Dinos was a delight (I still have to get to S2). Every issue of this makes me laugh out loud. Reminds me of comics I read as a kid.

Batman #1: Vast Colors in the Dark by Matt Fraction - Jumping into a character in comics you're familiar with but haven't read in years is trippy. I think Alfred is dead, but Bruce has an AI hologram of him? Vandal Savage is commish?

Good Killer Cros appearance. Love when Batman is sort of tender.
November 8, 2025 at 12:51 AM
Maleficent #1: The Twins by Paulina Ganucheau - The new one. A little more intrigued by this one - Maleficent is actually the POV. I think I'm sort of a bad comic reader because I pay way more attention to words than images, which can make issues like this with a lot of textless panels weird for me.
November 8, 2025 at 12:30 AM
Maleficent # 1 by Soo Lee - I've been getting back into comics & saw there was a new Maleficent one out, & had heard about this one from a 2 years ago so decided to get both. I thought this was a 1-shot but it's not! Very good art but the story didn't grab me, so requested the CE from the library.

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy - This series about the Star War universe getting mixed up & rebuilt features Princess Leia and Greedo in a relationship. When the main character tells Han Solo that HE should be with Leia, Han responds "I thought so too, but Greedo shot his shot first." No notes.
November 4, 2025 at 7:04 PM
Wake Up Dead Man - Press & guilds screening featuring a post-screening q&a with Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig, moderated by J. J. Abrams. Passed NPH getting popcorn in the lobby. A great new installment in the Knives Out series, see it on a big screen before Netflix if you can!
November 3, 2025 at 2:40 PM
Bat Boy: The Musical at New York City Center - Based on the viral hoax, this rocky comedic musical from the 90s is absolutely INSANE. Act 2 is for perverts (complementary). Sort of a parody of Americana musicals. I had a ball. Kept finding myself saying "what the fuck" at plot developments.

Kamen Rider Zeztz - Case 1: Start

Was about to call ACAB on the new Rider, but then when it was revealed that he's only a secret agent in his dreams because he watches so many old movies on DVD (a physical media obsessed Kamen Rider, we stan) I decided to let it slide, but Zeztz, you're on notice!

Season 3 of Cougar Town down. The height of the show's quality, both in how gangbusters the comedy plays and the pathos of the dramatic stories when they choose to dip their toes in that pool. It's not quite all downhill from here, the TBS seasons have a lot good, but this is the apex of the show.

Should I relaunch this thread into something that feels a little more orderly? Eh! Recently finished Season 2 of Cougar Town in my current rewatch/my fiancée's first watch. This is where the show really finds itself. The original premise is fully jetisoned for a friend/relationship hang show.

Today is the 25th anniversary of the American release of Chrono Cross, my favorite video game of all time! Wild to think it's been a quarter century since I first played it! An unforgettable adventure - I've still got two PS1 copies of it, but I'm so glad it's been released on modern consoles.
