Sharing here tonight for no particular reason that disability, like race or gender, is not a costume for an actor to wear, especially when opportunities for actual disabled talent are so rare — and in a culture that mindbogglingly links employment to health insurance

Just to be clear, Colbert was number one in the ratings and a talk show is about the cheapest thing you can put on television. It’s a game show without prizes. Oh and Trump hates to be laughed at.

When I met Ryan Coogler several years ago, we were standing in a group of people chatting, when a woman with visible hearing aids walked up, and he casually began to sign the whole conversation so she could participate. She mouthed “thank you”. He nodded and just kept doing his thing.

Max will debut Sinners in the U.S. on Friday July 4, when viewers will be able to watch it two ways: by 1) streaming the exact theatrically-released version, and 2) choosing Sinners in Black American Sign Language (BASL). It's 2012. The 1st Black POTUS has accepted a $400 million luxury jet from an Arab country. His Sec of Defense, previously an MSNBC host who drank to excess & who had already texted military ops in an insecure channel, promises no security concerns.

one lesson the Trump folks have learned is that the media will almost never say someone is “corrupt” or did something “illegal” — they’ll only ever say that questions have been raised. which means that it makes more sense to do something blatantly illegal than to stop halfway

If someone in power made the pitying assessment that #RFKJr "could never"/"will never"/"should never" give public addresses bc his condition makes his voice unpleasant to listen to, I'm sure he would quickly recognize the dangers of making sweeping generalizations re: capability & disability

TFW when US politicians mention the importance of "the dignity of work" while doing nothing to integrate more disabled people into the workplace & instead keeping them at poverty levels if they want to maintain healthcare.

Amazing to learn, bc cinematography is an area of film I've always felt esp intimidated by, as a wheelchair user. Carrying heavy equipment? Not for me.

As POTUS frames a deadly air crash on hiring people w disabilities, I hope someone reminds him his 4-term predecessor FDR pulled the US out of economic despair, won a global war, expanded the SEC & FDIC to help regular folks, & birthed Social Security.

Setting quotas of arrests per day. You know what happens when you have a quota to meet? Scoop them up and let the court sort it out. They will be grabbing anyone they can. No proof of citizenship on your person? Too bad. That’s an arrest. Look “illegal?” Explain it to the court someday.

Life is more expensive for us & paradoxically, reliable pay is harder to come by, irrespective of education/resume
