It's pouring rain, and I'm cozily indoors after having to do some outdoor chores. Satisfying to be in out of the deluge, and I'm celebrating with an Anderson Valley Brewing Company Winter Solstice Ale, a malty thing with some--but not too much--spice.

While recovering for this wicked cold, I've been watching The Diplomat on Netflix. SO good. It reminds me a lot of The West Wing, but it's the diplomatic corps instead of the WH.
I have tremendous admiration for diplomats of integrity. I'm so sorry our incoming President sees no point in them

Yes indeed. We have very little journalism any longer, and it is out-shouted by propaganda.
There are, of course, many reasons why Trump won. But this is, I believe, the biggest one.

Yes indeed. We have very little journalism any longer, and it is out-shouted by propaganda.
I'm flying home from a work thing. I got sick yesterday and I bought a mask to wear but I don't know. I think I must be a fountain of virus particles right now. I feel badly for the others on the plane.
But what could I do? Stay in Palm Springs at $275 a night until I felt better?
