Rec'd my PhD in Germanic Philology from UNC-CH many moons ago. Avid reader of different genres over the years, currently mysteries & thrillers & working my way slowly through _Indo-European Language & Culture_. Love to crochet.
Eggplant, mushroom, & shrimp casserole topped with panko (Italian style) bread crumbs. Zatarain's crab/shrimp boil gave it some kick.

This is Roxie. She's 17+ and, until she came to me on April 2nd of this year, she'd never had a home, but lived in a cat sanctuary. She's finally in her home.

The one & only red okra that grew in my niece's garden this year. Until I got her text & picture, I had no idea there was such a thing as red okra. Unfortunately, it loses its color when cooked.

My niece with the green thumb strikes again. Her harvest of the last week---over 110 lbs. of apples. They pressed half into cider. She also made chocolate zucchini bread. After I hinted around, it looks like she'll send me some.😁 Yay! In

Any mathematicians out there?
My grand-nephew started 1st grade this past Monday. After school today, his 1st grade teacher told my niece, that G-N tried to explain and illustrate Graham’s number to his 1st grade class today, as seen below. [We had to google it.]

This Roxie. She's 17 y.o. & spent her entire life up to now living in a sanctuary. Mine is the 1st home she's ever had. It took her some weeks to feel relax & stop running from me, but she's finally at home. (I got her from SpayMart.)

Another 5 lbs. of raspberries from my niece with the greenest thumb, bringing her total harvest to 19 lbs. so far. Also, more items from her harvest on Happy Resistance Garden Day.

This is part of my niece's almost 14 lbs. of raspberries harvested from her garden. That woman has the greenest thumb I've ever seen. Too bad she lives in Washington state, so I can't share in the bounty.

I crochet mostly doilies or table runners. Below is a birthday present for my cat-lady friend, a Gemini, of course. This is one of the few pieces I mostly designed myself, based on a Zodiac square found in Magic Crochet. (I think that was the magazine.)

I've crocheted for years, mostly thread crochet: doilies, table runners, etc., usually following a pattern. This panel is one of few works of my own design, made for my cat-lady friend with the June birthday. (She photographed it for me.)
