Former Immunologist. Still interested in all things Myeloid in health and disease.
I have never seen a pipette simulator before but there's one at the Technician's exhibition at the @sciencemuseum.org.uk Finally my kid has a vague understanding of what I did in the lab hehe!

Spontaneous water play and preparing banana slices for freezing. Trying our best to stay cool (or sane in my case).

Half term holiday fun times... something to treasure in joyless times.

Park life! 7 yo had a scooting incident and is now sporting a grazed knee and a limp (for some reason). We didn't have a First Aid kit with us, my Former Guide Leader self would be horrified at this omission #mumlife

A blast from the past. Not the best cytospin prep but not the worst either...

We have to be vaguely social this evening and it requires being properly dressed. The worst thing about girls' clothing is that its always pink. Good luck trying to get anything yellow or green! The oldest adores pink but at this point I suspect its Stockholm Syndrome 🫠

Spectral flow cytometers are amazing, of course, but the BD Accuri C6 will always have a special place in my heart.

Someone helpfully forwarded this to my 70+ year old mother who absolutely believed it. Now we have to have a conversation about how to spot AI images but more importantly, basic addition 😂

A good monocyte "waterfall" popped up in my memories. I always used to get super excited over good stain plots. I do miss my flow cytometry days from time to time (most probably because I no longer do said flow cytometry!)

The blisters are a-coming (incredibly slowly for some reason). Also great to know that since different viruses cause it, we can all get it again. Because half-term wasn't exciting enough quite frankly...

Throw back to when I was a T cell biologist trying to generate DCs and I kept ending up with DCs, Macrophages or something in between. Good times! I learnt a lot very quickly about Colony Stimulating Factors and ended up working in Myeloid biology...

Throw back to the time, l when I was a T cell biologist trying to generate DCs but kept ending up with DCs, macrophages or random hybrids. I learnt a lot about Colony stimulating factors that year and ended up switching fields...

The various application processes would be a lot faster without my co-writer's input ...

It's always really interesting to see the effect of poor sleep on the Immune system and associations with other disease factors/conditions. Very sobering reading especially when you have a baby that doesn't sleep through the night yet 😳
