Fulton St Collective (re: my previous post) hosts terrific concerts several times a week. I do live painting there about once a month. This is from Wednesday night, a painting of the wonderful Matt Mallinger

🪶Seriously, darn those windows. Why don’t they pick on someone their own size? Rose-breasted grosbeak, his beautiful spotty side, on a Chicago sidewalk

🪶 Today would've been Mikhail Mokeyev's 51st birthday. I've been posting photos he took, mostly at Montrose in Chicago; a little tribute to a kind, talented human who's missed. After misidentifying a Magnolia as a Canada yesterday, I double-checked today's. This spectacular hot mess is a Downy.

🪶 Unlike the birds I've posted the last couple of days, this Palm Warbler is not immature and not discombobulated. Pic M. Mokeyev

🪶Red-Winged Blackbirds are a menace, but I like this immature male. He's stunning if you appreciate spotty things (cf Gerard Manley Hopkins). Mikhail took two detailed photos of him. In this first one he looks lost and somewhat diapered 😂

🪶Another pic MM took of the same bird (I posted a picture of it earlier), looking fatter and cuter, more as if he has aspirations, and not exhibiting his tongue.
