Our new report highlights how wrongful convictions are a common feature of the death penalty. Black people are more likely to be wrongfully convicted and executed despite their innocence.

NEW: We released a report exposing how death penalty cases are often plagued with errors and misconduct that lead to wrongful convictions.

Black defendants are more likely to be sentenced to death for a crime they didn’t commit because of the systemic racism baked into the death penalty.

The death penalty grew out of this country’s brutal practice of lynching.

When lynching became politically and socially unpalatable, the death penalty became the state sanctioned alternative.

No one should be killed by the state. The time to end the racist, unjust, and cruel death penalty is NOW.

7 veterans have already been executed, 5 were in Florida, where the next 2 of veterans are. Veterans will make up nearly a quarter of the executions this year.

What a betrayal — to execute those who once served their country, especially under a governor who is himself a veteran.
