I start reading over 100 books a year; I finish less than 20% of them.

Books are not homework assignments; if what you're reading doesn't bring you pleasure or satisfaction, give it to your local library and move onto a book that you will truly enjoy.

Been in such a slump, DNF'ed 2 books this month.

Hoping to kick start my brain with Gathering Blue (the giver #2)

Read Rebecca, omg. It gets a 5/5, absolutely adored that book.

Read the near witch (3.5) and the Ash born boy (4)

Bought a few physical books from a charity shop that I'm so excited to read.

Maybe I'll do a book haul tomorrow.

I read the giver in one day, so proud of myself even though its just 200 pages. 3.9/5. Mainly because it didnt scratch that dystopia itch for me, it was over way too quick. But overall, decent book, probably not gonna read the next book for a bit tho.

Crooked kingdom was a 4/5! But I immediately got into a reading slump because I missed the crew sm that I didn't read for 3 days straight

You keep the world spinning 😌✊️
Did I work on my book today? No. But did I get a lot of admin done? Also no. Did I do anything that I needed to do? Big bowl of no. But DID I WRITE FANFICTION?

Yes 👍

It makes them feel better, gives them a moral high ground when correcting others. Makes them feel like theyre doing something while putting in the smallest possible effort.

Same as when people say 'unhoused' instead of homeless while doing nothing to help them.

Performative activism at its peak.
I am Disabled.

Not "Differently Abled"

So call me what I am.

Disabled.

Stop using these other "terms" they aren't as wholesome as you think.

Disabled ISN'T a bad word and we're NOT something to be ashamed of!

AOC is also horrible when it comes to the genocide on Gaza. I used to look up to her but man, has she been showing her true colours since last October.

I won't be touching a single Ai book IN MY LIFE.

ai covers? Blocked.
ai writing? Blocked.
ai ANYTHING? BLOCKED!

books are literally about freedom and creativity, and yet we are removing artists from the process?
Let's be clear, this is a vanity press that, in my opinion, probably doesn't care how its books perform. At £5k a pop and 8k books next year, it's looking at pulling in £400k from wouldbe authors. Authors are its business, not readers.

Going down this list and devouring each and every one before this crisis comes to the UK.

My school librarian was a mean lady but she also worked with teens so... par for the course?

But honestly, I spent so much of my time in there and reading changed the direction of my life.

Now I make sure my nephews read. I buy stacks and we spend entire afternoons reading to each other.
Every single school should have a library & a librarian, to help every single child find the books that will make them readers, and give them all the lifelong benefits of literacy. Libraries & librarians change children's lives FOREVER!

I feel the horror kicking in. The intense, burrowing ache of a series ending. Knowing the family you have created will cease, vanish. Knowing you caused it. You decided to finish the book.

Crooked Kingdom... dreading the next 66% that is left of you.

No mourners.

I FINISHED SIX OF CROWS. OMG. I LOVED IT.

I cried, I laughed, I got so invested I lost track of time. Ugh.

Immediately going onto the next book, I don't care if its 5am.
