A 51-year old anime fan who dabbles in historian. Or an amateur historian who enjoys anime. Something like that, anyway.
Nothing came of it at the time. But the bee never left. In two weeks time, that bee finally turns into a hive. DOUGLAS WATCHES EVERY ANIME begins on January 5th with "THE ANIMATION BUBBLE - "1907" - 1918".

Ep 36 is an action romp, and a superb homage to the show's young fans. Two kids dress up as Gatchamans and learn the hard way how scary it is to be a superhero. They stand in for all the kids - like me - who ran around the playground yelling "Bird Go!" or "Transmute!" at the tops of their voices.

Episode 10 is a bit odd; killing an enormous robot ant with a high-tech magnifying glass feels a bit too future serial killer for my tastes. But it's a reasonable enough episode beyond that.

It's interesting that the show can just as easily be carried by Gatchaman/Ken the Eagle on his own, although I'm pretty sure the other Science Ninjas will get their own plots in due course. 3/3

Episode 3, "The Giant Mummy That Summons Storms", feels very like an episode of Kamen Rider 1971, and leans into the emotional damage that an inhumane organisation like Galactor causes. 2/3

I know that "traduttore, traditore" - the translator is a traitor - but would it have killed them to at least try and make it sound good? Argh! 3/3
