I think this depends on the shader used on the video screen. I think the one shipped with UdonSharpVideo supports different aspect ratios.

For 1-3 I agree. ODST and Reach tried to be different and I think they deserve some credit for it.

The starting point matters less than just starting at all. Try a few of the ones you've heard of and stick with whatever you like the most.

And look, I can tell you're pretty dug in on this so I don't expect to change your mind. But think of it this way: even if you are right and I am wrong, eventually I will be right. It's not too early to test the waters on other SteamVR controller options.

The current state of index in the US. Any kits are out of stock, however individual parts ARE available if bought individually. They are selling new units as replacement only, and any customer RMAs are done with refurbished devices.

AFAIK the original source of this is anonymous source reported via SadlyItsBradly. Supporting evidence is that pairs of controllers have been out of stock in NA for years.

As an option without finger tracking maybe. But if finger tracking is required this is ruled out.

noise complaint if you turn the video player volume too loud and the police show up.

I had a similar experience with my BSB1, but they eventually got me a unit that didn't have these issues. I got the headset in the November preorder batch, and was working with their support until March when they finally sent me a usable unit.

The reason being that binding quadrants of a trackpad as buttons, the route most games go, doesn't have the fidelity of... well... buttons...

The large circular trackpads are a huge benefit to the wands, and any application able to use them intuitively work very well, but most games benefit from the more conventional 2 button + joystick control scheme and the market moved in that direction for a reason.

lets agree to disagree

There are other options, but none anyone wants.
Vive wands - still sold, but inferior control scheme.
GripVR/FlipVR - Good control scheme, but no finger tracking.
ContactGlove - Good control scheme with finger tracking, expensive.
Other VR gloves with bad control schemes unmentioned.

I read through it and thought about "acceptability" for awhile. For me it comes down to covering your blind-spots. I think if you are willing to trust strangers on the internet, this is OK, Since ultimately the AI is just a hivemind of internet strangers fed into an algorithm.

Ive heard of people sending spam mail back to these using the included prepaid envelope.
