Wish I had the same self-awareness about life that macrumors does in predicting a new apple tv coming soon every month since 2023.

Guess I just don't get fiber internet anymore? AT&T replaced my neighbor's line then seemed to have swapped his node with mine, so they just mark the line as green and close the ticket day after day.

When I cancel after they do this again, will they disconnect my neighbor's line? lol.

yo hey that dude with that huge chainsaw is cutting awful close to my fiber lines. I hope he doesn't... oh.... oh no....

2025 is the year of throw your phone in the toilet.

Computational photography has some uses, but I forgot what real photos look like.

doing design work this last week and change while trying to keep off the computer a bit.

took some time before that reviewing/practicing some basics. feels like a good time to just implement random algo's for a while to re-skill... not feeling very creative lately.

watched a lot of movies in the last few years. Core themes are only one of two things:
- male fragility
- The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies

Want to change the world? Make the people around you feel safe to be wrong. Let them be curious about stupid shit.

Three ADHD levels down: is it time to fundamentally revisit the slab allocator?

We have at least three allocators, plus still system malloc/free usage (mostly in proxy). Primary slab allocator supports reorganizing live objects to rebalance memory, which is rare because it's super hard.

Spidey sense telling me my split LRU algo has a balancing glitch. It's ~ten years old now and my testing methods have improved a lot maybe? worth another look?

I don't advertise enough that the LRU updates are completely outside of the fetch path. It bogs writes slightly but reads scale perfectly!

Threadripper 9980x 64 core looks sick and I'd love to grab one to upgrade my benchmark host... but everyone runs mc on four cores of 2014 era intel CPU with two cores clobbered by metrics daemons so nothing I do here matters, lol.

It's been the era of "do more with less" for so long now.

Going to [attempt] to use this to help unplug for a while.
(Technically, it's fine if you're late! You can buy S2 whenever, and catch up to the current week if we're still premiering new games. Or, play on your own schedule later. But if you'd like to discover new games along with everyone else, join us tomorrow!)

debating using Go for new analysis app. The other option being building analysis suite into my benchmark platform (lol, hear me out). Upside is quicker to do web/tui stuff in Go but downside is two tools for users; can't give up speed/scriptability from the bench framework.

trying to come up with the shortest prompt that will make claude chug for at least five minutes. needs a clever name like “google whacking”. code boiling?

got it down to two one sentence prompts before it starts vomitting garbage and throws errors.

Still prefer books, because dinosaur rawr.
