Thanks for this. I have read the Uscinski/Parent and Olmsted books, both excellent in their own ways.
But, and I should probably have been more clear, I am after one of those tables or diagrams you sometimes get in the front of a book that are called 'Timeline of...' or 'Chronology of...'

I haven't worked out who this Rangatira called "Mate" is. Charles Nelson also calls him "Matangao", and places him in the Kaipara, so probably Ngāti Whatua. He put Nelson in charge of his tangihanga, as he considered Nelson "the only tohunga in the Kaipara". Nelson was then under tapu for 6 months.
