Are you refighting enemies in areas? I didn't hit 28 until after I'd done everything possible in Chapter 1 and then some. Play however you like, obviously, but be aware you'll probably find the final location a pushover at this pace.

Plus there's not an indication that you can continue after you beat the game, so you feel encouraged to do optional content while delaying the end game, and when you come back to the plot you'll be drastically overpowered. While that can be fun, I wish I'd tried the final boss about 20 hours sooner.

Optional zones can be either slightly more difficult than your current progression, or intended for post game, and when enemies can easily one-shot you, it can be heard to figure when you should come back. After you can fly around the map, finding a level-appropriate zone is like playing darts blind

After what happened when they tried to make a Monster Hunter movie, probably not.

As a kid, one of my friends was a big Mac gamer, so I heard all about it. It makes more sense if you think of it in terms of the historical battle.

I might not remember all the details, but it's the kind of thing that you'll hear about it once and never forget.

Additionally, having items refresh at checkpoints also helps alleviate the urge to hold on to them forever in case you need them for some hypothetical boss fight later.

Then there's also conditional aspects to the skills, where they'll do more damage or inflict extended statuses depending on on a character's unique mechanics or debuffs inflicted on enemies. So you're changing up what you're doing from round to round.

You've got 100 dudes who are willing to fight a gorilla. At least one of them is overconfident enough to think he can beat it himself and rushes in to prove how much of an "alpha" he is.

That fight does double duty, because it also introduces the jump dodge/counter, and it guarantees the first one succeeds. And the XP reward seemed like a regular amount. I haven't been level grinding, just fight every enemy once and finding all the loot.

I'm playing on normal difficult, btw. I'm kind of finding the enemies too squishy, I'm not getting to engage much with the character's combat mechanics. The instructional fight after getting my third party member felt like it was over before the tutorial portion was complete.

Also for how bonkers the plot goes when contrasted with the mundane (but enjoyable) nature of the gameplay.

I usually order the spicy asiago chicken sandwich when I go to Wendy's, and I think I like Cajun one more. It's got a little bit more of a kick to it, and I like the crunchy onions.
