Finished up the story of Expedition 33 today. Fantastic game. Music, characters, story, gameplay, all absolutely top notch. If I have one complaint, it's that the game doesn't give a good indicator of enemy strength for areas.

Still playing Expedition 33, and getting close to the end, I think. I've started maxing out the relationships, and the reveals in the last two interactions for Sciel were more intense than I was expecting. They had hinted at the reveal before, but I hadn't quite pieced it all together before hand.

I'm now 9 hours into Expedition 33. I'm thinking that part of what makes the combat so good is the versatility. The way skills and AP work, you're regularly switching up what you use, instead of doing the thing lots of RPG do where you rely on basic attack to conserve MP or items.

Trump becoming Pope is the kind of brilliant* idea he'd come up with. Since America's historical anti-Catholic sentiment comes from concern loyalty to the Pope supersedes national loyalty, having the Pope and king of the USA be the same person eliminates that conflict of interest.

So playing Expedition 33, I took 4 tries to beat Maelle in the optional fight at the banquet. Ya know, the first possible actual fight in the game. Wasn't a good sign. I did struggle with the Chromatic Lancelier optional boss, but fortunately the other early game enemies aren't actually that tough.

Grabbed Metro 2033 Redux recently because it was available for free. Fantastic atmosphere and setting. The part at the beginning where Artyom, his dad, and Hunter are fighting off the monsters coming out of the vents was genuinely frightening to me.

Heard "Political Science" by Randy Neumann on the radio this morning. When I first heard it decades ago, I found it a hyperbolic silly song about nuking everyone because they hate the US, but with Trump as president and conservatives' lack of media literacy, it feels too on the nose to enjoy.

I appreciate that Capcom changed the requirement for unlocking the cosmetic pendant from top 10,000 to just A ranking the quest in MonHun Wilds. Got me to reattempt the Doshaguma event quest.

Sex is cool, but have you ever intentionally landed an offset attack an a Rathalos while it was airborne and knocked it out of the sky? Monster Hunter Wilds is pretty great.

I've got a painful sore throat from a cold, so I went out to buy some (store-brand) dayquil yesterday. "Honey-flavored". Oh, that sounds nice. It is not. I've actively chosen the sore throat over drinking more of it.

Really glad the first title update for Monster Hunter Wilds is letting us refight the final boss monster. One of my favorite fights from this game. Thought it was odd we couldn't. Also, its armor set looks incredible.

Was thinking of calling out sick from work because my seasonal allergies kept me up all night, but the office was giving us free cheesesteaks for lunch today. I think this has been the right choice.

Do other people like the Guardian Arkveld fight in MH Wilds? Am I in the minority for hating it? My previous MH experience is 200 hrs in World, mostly from before Icebourne, so maybe it's being rusty and bad that turned me off, but this is also the first hunt I fully failed in Wilds.

Continuing a Total Warhammer III campaign with a friend. I'm playing Tretch Craventail. A faction of Chaos Dwarves declared war on me, then an Ogre faction sacked their capital, making it easy for my army of trash units to capture it. This feels lore accurate for Tretch.

Watched an Abbott and Costello movie with a friend last night (The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap), and a character dropped the line "Or should I call you daddy?" with a more seductive tone than I was expecting from a 76 year old movie.

Game night, and only one other guy is online. He's wanted to play Baldur's Gate 3, and I hate doing it multiplayer, but it's the only time he plays it so I feel bad saying no. I spend like half the time waiting for him to talk to every single NPC and loot every single container. Rotten food and all.

Spent 62 minutes on character creation. Didn't actually change much, but I like how she turned out. And I gave my Palico matching cheek markes.

A friend organized a boardgame day with a bunch of people he knows from one of his sword fighting groups. One of them play Monster Hunter. Now I know someone else who plays Wilds. *sigh* Guess what I just purchased and installed.
