If the Court grants the DOJ's request, I don't think it's exaggerating too much to say that the Supreme Court would be affirmatively holding that the Trump administration has the right to violate court orders they feel are incorrect.
Plaintiffs have now filed a response at SCOTUS saying that nothing in the SCOTUS order affected Murphy's authority to remedy the government's past violation of his order.
