Cherry tomatoes are ramping up! This is a variety that volunteered itself a few years ago, and through seed saving, I've been selecting small cherry tomato traits. These first little cuties will be saved for the seed harvest this year.

The Indigenous People of North America have decided to go back to calling the Gulf of Mexico, “Chalchiuhtlicueyecatl”. It is what the Nahuatl People originally called it as it is the domain of the goddess Chalchiuhtlicue, who is assoc w/water bodies, including the Gulf of Mexico.

Do you ever wonder how seed packets report "95% germination" or some % on the back?

Our seeds get rolled up in a wet paper towel, placed in a warm sunny spot with a lid, then I simply count how many sprouted.

You can do this too if you have an old packet of seeds you want to test!

For the first ones I did a couple years ago, I scanned and cut the painting from the background in #Inkscape. For these, I used an app to remove the background (free version of Photoroom), then made the label in Inkscape.

Working on new seed packet designs this afternoon. I usually use a mix of watercolor pencils and traditional watercolors, but this one was done only with watercolor pencils.
