Took a short evening paramotor flight a few miles upwind this evening. When I got back, I saw my friend Gaff videoing me as he was walking home from the hangar, so I did a flyby.

The ground between my camper and the landing areas finally dried up enough to ride the Onewheel on, and we finally got an evening with manageable winds, so for the first time in over two months, I took the paramotor up for a flight.

Dad didn't feel like sloshing around in the flooded area around the camper this evening, so to compensate for the lack of exercise, we drove 25 miles round trip to buy some distraction sticks at Tractor Supply.

Yay! Now I don't have to scroll past useless games and shorts that I'm never interested in on Youtube.

I'm calling this one "Pollination."

What does a long-since-former web application developer turned skydive instructor do on a rainy day with no work? Create SVG art with javascript. That's what this one does, anyway. Sometimes.

Wow! 6:30 am and 16 degrees outside, and I still have running water in the camper! I'm honestly amazed, since the fresh water tank hangs exposed under the trailer and at least three feet of vinyl hose is exposed before running into the insulation. I get to shower before going outside!

I like the HRRR (high resolution rapid refresh) model, as it seems to be the more consistently accurate one, in my experience. Hopefully, that proves true tomorrow in the wee hours. I'd like to wake up with running water in my camper.

About four hours later than usual, but I finally convinced Bela to go outside and get her business done despite the snow. It was either that or try to convince her to do it in the shower pan.

It's time to go for the morning poop/pee walk, but as soon as I opened the door, Bela made it clear that she would rather just hold it for now. It's her first time seeing snow up close, and I'd been wondering if she'd like snow. Guess not.

I spent a few hours making the design I had printed on the hoodie (see previous post) work for a long sleeve jersey, then got back to working on my latest drawing. This will probably look good on some clothing.

On sort of a commission for a friend, I designed a hoodie with my then-latest Javascript->SVG art. I told her to hold off on ordering until I verified that the quality was good, and I'm happy to say that I like it!

Winds died down and I wasn't too tired or hungry and I'd already walked Bela, so I flew the paramotor around for about 40 minutes around sunset.

Bela and I took advantage of the holiday lull in traffic, and headed downtown to ride the Buffalo Bayou trails and nearby streets. The parks were busy, but downtown was a ghost town. Perfect for exploring with a Onewheel and an active doggo.

Went into the city to do laundry and exchange the stupid SodaStream canisters and get stuck in construction traffic today. When I wasn't busy doing that, I did this. Bun running Typescript using React/JSX to render SVG to disk and rsvg-convert to create PNG and update desktop wallpaper.

I was trying to nap this afternoon, but I had an idea about how to improve some code I wrote a while back, specifically regarding the radii of circles in a phyllotaxic pattern. So this evening, I wrote the functions and used them to make this.

Bun, Typescript, React/JSX, librsvg.

This graph clearly shows when I broke my foot, forcing me to spend a lot of time at home. It was during this time that I switched my NixOS configurations to use nix flakes and switched from the Sway window manager to Hyprland.

We've had lots of adventures in California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico. And of course, Texas, where I found her and where we returned to and live now.

Thankfully, a wonderful woman in Phoenix took care of Bela and her puppies for me.

I did not know she was pregnant until a few weeks later, after we'd traveled halfway to California.

Today marks two years since the stinky, stray pitbull decided I was going to be her forever person.
