In my Grade 11 course, I use this, and 3 other spider poems towards the end of the course. When there was a spider rescue attempt on day one, it was all I could do not to yell at them for sneaking ahead and posting spoilers!

Judging by the table next to the right of my reading spot, I have no advice to offer. (Insane combo of TBR, already read, books that “followed me home”…

I did okay as a student, but I have long weaponized my insomnia, and pretty much always have time for the reading.
Truth is, when I didn’t is when I did the worst, and understood the least. (Internet access will give ‘em a bit more than Cliffs Notes did.)

I spoke about this frankly with my Lit class the other day. Told them they’ll benefit the most from doing the reading, but the reality is it may not always happen. They have to do their best.
