Six million Canadians are now covered under the NDP's dental care plan, saving people an average of $800 per year!

Dental care is primary health care. New Democrats won't stop fighting until every Canadian can access the dentist with their health card instead of their credit card.

Happy to join in the 70th anniversary celebration of Via Rail and The Canadian passenger rail service at the Vancouver terminal.
Rail builds our country, connects our communities and is just a fabulous way to see and experience our beautiful nation.
NDP wants much more passenger rail in Canada!

Millions of Canadians are struggling. Yet the Liberals are demanding sacrifices from workers, while handing out billions to the wealthiest individuals and biggest corporations. New Democrats have a better plan: positive, constructive policies to build a stronger, fairer Canada.

Budgets reveal values. Mark Carney's budget demands sacrifices from working families—by slashing services and cutting frontline jobs—while giving the ultra-wealthy a tax break on luxury yachts and private jets. What value(s) does that represent?

Last year Parliament passed legislation to cover diabetes and contraceptive medications through our public healthcare system. Budget 2025 promised to protect pharmacare—but didn't allocate any money to it. The Liberals must keep their word and fund pharmacare for all Canadians.

The NDP could not support the Liberal budget. It fails to meet the moment or tackle urgent challenges like housing, healthcare, affordability and the jobs crisis. And so, we’ve put our country first: voting against the budget, but helping prevent an election Canadians don’t want.

Today is our second granddaughter Charlotte Rose’s 1st birthday!
What love she has brought us all!
In today’s tumultuous world, our children remind us what is truly precious and important in life.
Let’s create a world that allows all to flourish, grow and thrive…

It is always a profound privilege to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies in Vancouver.
Today I did so at Memorial Park, the Chinese Cenotaph and with peace activists near Seaforth Armoury.
The very best way we can honour the fallen is to create a world of peace.
Lest we forget.

Remembrance Day serves as a reminder to all Canadians to join together and honour the brave men and women who sacrifice so much to protect our country. Their courage and commitment will never be forgotten.

Great to be in Manitoba at the NDP convention.

Premier Kinew and his team are showing what progressive government looks like.

Grateful to hear the needs of Manitobans and their views on the federal budget.

I'd like a budget that satisfies Canadians, not one that satisfies Donald Trump.

Canadians are struggling to make ends meet — yet this budget offers no real relief. Families can’t wait for promises. They need help now. #cdnpoli #Budget2025

Don and the NDP once again secure funding for a Filipino Community and Cultural Centre in Vancouver.

Our little ladybug Charlotte enjoyed her first Halloween!
I hope everyone had a safe, fun and not too spooky night!

Universal healthcare is nation-building. Budget 2025 should invest in head-to-toe care—because every Canadian deserves it, not just those who can afford it. #cdnpoli #Budget2025

Municipalities build the communities Canadians call home. I spoke this morning to the @fcm.ca about renewing Canada’s nation-building vision—partnering with local leaders on housing, infrastructure, and climate resilience. #CDNmuni #cdnpoli

Canadians are facing a severe affordability crisis. Families are struggling to cover basic expenses, relying on high-interest credit just to get by, while food bank use has surged. In a country as wealthy as ours, no one should be forced into debt just to put food on the table.

Canada has a serious jobs crisis.
This must be addressed by a strong national industrial policy, investments in key sectors + innovative programs, esp. that put young people to work.
Austerity that throws people out of work & cuts to services folks need will make things worse.

Canadians are struggling with the sky-high cost of daily essentials—and the situation is getting worse. The latest inflation data shows grocery prices up 4%, rent up 4.8% nationally and 9.6% in Quebec. The upcoming federal budget must deliver real solutions to Canada's cost-of-living crisis.

Yesterday, I spoke to delegates from Special Olympics Canada. It was an honour to meet such dedicated, talented athletes, along with the incredible coaches, parents, volunteers, and staff who support them.

When people with diverse abilities succeed, we all succeed.

Today I called for an emergency debate on Stellantis' plan to send 3000 Canadian jobs to the US. This betrayal—after billions in public support—will devastate families and communities. Our economy is under attack from the Trump administration. We must act immediately to protect Canadian workers.

Honoured to attend the celebration of life of the incomparable Chris Morrissey.
Chris left a remarkable legacy, championing LGBTQ+ rights, saving the lives of refugees, working w/ the poor & fighting for equality.
Chris was a force for love + understanding & a model of compassionate activism…

Public healthcare is both a moral and economic imperative. A healthy economy needs healthy workers. It's time to strengthen and expand our public healthcare system, not maintain the status quo. Instead of austerity and cuts, the upcoming federal budget must invest in Canadians.

With rents soaring and home ownership increasingly out of reach, the federal government must address the housing crisis in the upcoming budget. That means dramatically scaling up the construction of non-market homes of all types, including co-op, student, senior and supportive housing.
October 16, 2025 at 2:35 PM
Working families are struggling and youth unemployment is soaring. Yet the Liberals are planning an austerity budget. New Democrats believe this is the wrong approach. It’s time to invest in Canadians, create good jobs, build affordable homes, and strengthen public healthcare.
