There are some very good psychiatrist out there who can give a solid adult ADD diagnosis, one so that a primary care provider will be comfortable overseeing any ADD meds after that.
The problem is good psychiatrist at that level are wildly expensive and your insurance is unlikely to cover it.

Started anti-depressants a few years ago after a *bad* stretch mentally. Last year my wife suggested I may have ADHD. I did a screening, and yup! Now on meds with a specialist.
Told my mom, and "yeah you were diagnosed at 11, but dad rejected it and said you only needed more self-discipline."
